Working Bee - a huge thank you

Over the weekend, we were incredibly impressed by the wonderful turnout at our school working bee. Despite busy family schedules, so many members of our community gave up part of their Saturday to come along and help out around the school grounds.

Thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm of our volunteers, we filled a skip, removed a huge amount of weeds, cleared storm drains, cleaned bubblers, swept paths and play areas, completed repairs, built and fixed a range of items, and generally gave the school a fantastic tidy-up.

These kinds of community efforts make a huge difference to our school environment and help ensure that SKiPPS continues to be a welcoming, safe and beautiful place for our students to learn and play.

A sincere thank you to every family member, student and community member who found the time to lend a hand. Your support, generosity and pride in our school are deeply appreciated, and we are very grateful for all that you do to help keep SKiPPS looking its best.

Thank you also to Jac and Cecilie for representing the staff and turning up to help.

It may seem some time off but our next working bee will be on Saturday 17th October - please put this into your calendars now!

Trivia Night 2026 - 🎉 Calling All Future Trivia Night Legends! 🎉

Each year, the SKiPPS Parents Trivia Night delivers an unforgettable evening filled with laughter, friendly competition, creative costumes, questionable general knowledge, and a dance floor that somehow always comes alive by the end of the night!

From hilarious dress-up themes to fantastic music and plenty of memorable moments, Trivia Night has become one of our favourite community events  - and now we’re looking for a new team of wonderful parent volunteers to help bring the 2026 event to life!

As our existing fundraising team are still recovering from the exertions of the fete, we are on the lookout for a small group of parents to lead the event planning. This would involve coordinating:

  • an event venue
  • the trivia company
  • some light entertainment and event organisation, possibly the running of a bar!

The good news? You won’t be starting from scratch! There are plenty of experienced parents happy to help, share ideas, and support the new team with everything that has worked well in previous years.

If you’ve been thinking about getting a little more involved in school community life, this could be the perfect opportunity. It’s a fun way to meet other families, contribute to the school community, and help continue one of SKiPPS’ most-loved traditions.

Enrol for 2027

As we begin planning for the 2027 school year, enrolment tours are now running at St Kilda Park Primary School. We currently have places available across all year levels and would greatly appreciate our community helping to spread the word about SKiPPS.

If you know of any friends, neighbours or relatives looking for an excellent local primary school, please encourage them to come along for a tour and see our school in action. Tour dates and bookings can be found via the school website.

We also ask any current SKiPPS families with younger siblings starting Foundation in 2027 to please complete their enrolment application as soon as possible.

All 2027 Foundation enrolments are now completed online through the new Victorian Government VicStudents portal. If families require any assistance registering or completing the process, please contact Wendy in the office who will be very happy to help.

The Parents Battle of the Bands is back and tickets are selling fast!

Come along for a fantastic night of live music, laughs and community spirit at the iconic Prince Bandroom on Thursday 4th June (doors open at 7pm), where our very own parent band, Parental Guidance, will be taking to the stage alongside bands from four other local primary schools.

This event is not only a brilliant night out for parents and friends, it is also an important fundraiser supporting music and performing arts programs in participating schools. Over the past five years, the Parents Battle of the Bands has contributed more than $9000 to SKiPPS, helping support our orchestra and Performing Arts programs.

Importantly, proceeds are shared based on ticket sales, meaning the more tickets our community buys, the more our students benefit.

We encourage families to grab their tickets before they sell out and come along to support a wonderful community event that directly benefits music education at our school.

Child safety and wellbeing at St Kilda Park Primary School

Our school is committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe.

Our child safety framework includes policies, codes and procedures that explain how we support and maintain the safety and wellbeing of our students and protect them from harm. These documents are available on our website

We are also committed to continuous improvement of our child safety framework. We are currently reviewing our child safety policies and practices to ensure they are up-to-date and effective.

Our students and families are important partners in this process. We welcome your feedback or ideas on ways we can improve our approach to child safety and wellbeing.

If you have any suggestions or comments, please contact our Assistant Principal Jac Morphy on jacqueline.morphy@education.vic.gov.au

Join the SKiPPS orchestra

Our wonderful SKiPPS orchestra wanted to share the great news that have been awarded a generous grant from South Melbourne Community Chest for the 2026 school year.

This funding allows them to support a number of students by covering participation fees, ensuring that more children have access to music.

No child should miss out on the opportunity to experience the many benefits of music due to financial constraints. Music education has been shown to support children's cognitive development, enhance memory and concentration and contribute positively to academic performance. Beyond this, it builds confidence, creativity and a sense of belonging, especially within the SKIPPS Orchestra, which is a truly special group.

We are also incredibly lucky to have Michael Roper. A former SKIPPS teacher, Michael brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our community. His ability to connect with students and inspire them musically creates an environment where they can thrive and grow.

If financial concerns have ever been a barrier to your child's participation, we encourage you to come along Wednesdays at 8am and be part of the orchestra. We are committed to making this program accessible and inclusive for all.
