Try a VET Day

Yesterday, the NCTTC ran its annual ‘Try a VET Day’. The purpose of the day is to give students the opportunity to learn about the VET studies on offer at the NCTTC, so they can make informed choices regarding their subject selections and future pathways.

Around 120 students and accompanying staff from Boort, Charlton, Donald, Pyramid Hill, Sea Lake, St. Arnaud, Wedderburn and Wycheproof attended.

The first part of the day gave students the opportunity to participate in an Industry Expo. Stallholders included: VEG Education, Bendigo TAFE, Kangan Institute, Academy Training & Assessment, O’Connors, Boort District Health, Teys, Buloke Shire, Loddon Shire, Elders, Nutrien Ag, Headspace (Bendigo & Swan Hill), Inglewood & Districts Health Service, Victoria Police, NCLLEN: HeadStart, Vic VICE and the L2P Program. There was a real buzz in the stadium during this activity as students visited stalls, asked questions and posed questions. The feedback from stallholders was overwhelmingly positive and the students are to be commended on the way in which they conducted themselves and used their time.

Students then participated in three different VET sessions, which provided insight into the requirements, content and expectations for the 12 VET courses on offer in 2027.

Lunch was left in the capable hands of the Charlton Lions Club who cooked our BBQ, which was very well received by staff and students alike!

Overall, the feedback from supervising staff, as well as the students, was very positive.

We would like to thank the NCLLEN for their continued support of this important day and the TTC staff who ran a range of interesting and engaging sessions for the students in attendance.

Our next step is to give the students time to consider their choices for 2027 and obtain course counselling before making important subject selections.
