It has been a rare fortnight, where apart from our days off, we have had an uninterrupted run with our teaching and learning which has been fantastic. With a semester drawing to a close, lots of testing has been taking place, and I am pleased to say, I am seeing some wonderful results.

The Year 5 & 6 students head off to Melbourne on Monday for a jam packed week. We look forward to seeing photos and hearing stories of their happenings when they return.

Austin gave a book review on Hotdog (Book 1).
Austin shared that this book is a mysterious adventure and picture book. It is set in a park with a river. The main characters are Hot Dog, Lizzie and Kev. Hot Dog and his friends find a baby bird who has lost his mum. They help the baby bird.
Austin recommends this book to students in year two to six, and he rates this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Cody reported on The Big Freeze.
The Big Freeze will take place on Monday the 8th of June to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease. This is the 12th year this event has taken place, and prior to this year over 141 million dollars has been raised for research. This year they unveiled a massive 2.5 metre hot air balloon in the shape of a beanie at marvel stadium. Cody identified that the event is important as it raises awareness for the disease and raises money to help find a cure.
Her burning question is, ‘How far away are you from discovering a cure for this terrible disease?”

3/4 Science
Year 3-4 students have been learning about the difference between soil and dirt. Students made their own seed balls by mixing soil, seeds, and flour together with water. Once the balls have dried, they will take them home to plant in their own garden.

Year 5/6 Chinese
This term, Years 5 and 6 have been involved in a peer teaching and learning project focused on Chinese culture. Students explored a variety of topics, including Beijing Opera, learning how to hold chopsticks, all about pandas, fan dancing, and Chinese red packets. Later this term, they will also learn about the Mid-Autumn Festival and participate in mooncake making. Fantastic effort and excellent work from everyone! A special thank you to Jac for helping out in the classroom.
