Message from the Principal

St Peter’s School - an empowered faith community to enrich the world.

Welcome to Term 2 Week 6

Welcome to Week 6! How quickly the weather has changed! It is feeling very wintry this week.

I encourage you to take the time and read each page of our newsletter. The calendar has been updated with new events added- please check. Our Faith Journey and Wellbeing pages all contain information- not just what has been happening at school but tips on how we can keep strengthening the partnership between home and school.

We are very fortunate to have dedicated students - especially our Year 6 Leaders. Tech club runs on a Thursday lunchtime lead by our Technology Team with the support of Ms Burnie. The 'full' signs goes up every week as it is so popular. The Arts leaders, with the support of Ms Scott,  are in full swing organising St Peter's Got Talent. This is our annual talent show, where students nominate an act, practice in their spare time (including Tuesday lunchtime) and then put on an amazing concert for us all to enjoy.

Please put Wednesday 17 June 2:10pm in your calendars as this is the day we will see all the artistic talent in St Peter's!

Reconciliation Week at St Peter's

Wednesday marked the beginning of Reconciliation Week. Students have been learning about  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, stories, and histories, and how we can show respect, kindness, and understanding to help build reconciliation.

As a FIRE  (Friends Igniting Reconciliation in Education) Carrier school it is important to us to deepen our commitment to reconciliation through education and community partnerships. Students have read books, been exposed to Indigenous language and discussed Dreamtime stories and connection to country.

We invite you to join us for our Reconciliation Week Liturgy on Friday at 2:45pm, led by 3 /4A.

I also encourage you to go to Track Gallery (see information below), where artwork from St Peter's school is on display as part of Monash Youth Art for Reconciliation.

5 /6 Camp

A great time was had by all our Year 5 and 6 students at Camp Allambee- and we were so lucky with the weather! Thank you to Mr Tran, Mr Van Boxtel, Ms Tash and Ms Rashida for leaving their families behind for 3 days to support our students and provide such a great experience.

Please read the recounts from our students on the 5 /6 Camp page.

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle

We hope to see many of you at Bunnings Oakleigh on Saturday. We will be cooking up a storm on the BBQ, selling sausages and drinks as our major fundraiser for the year.

Every sausage sold will support the P&F focus of raising money to resurface the rear playground.

If you are able to donate some time serving on the BBQ that would be appreciated, or just come and say hello and buy a drink and/or a suasage!

I look forward to seeing you all at Bunnings on Saturday!

Prayer for Reconciliation Week

God of love,

fill our hearts with kindness and peace.

Help us to listen, learn, and walk together in respect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

May we work for reconciliation every day.

We ask this through Jesus, who loves us.

Amen.
