Education in Faith
Faith, Family, Friendship

As we journey toward Christmas, our school community has been joyfully entering into the season of Advent, a sacred time in the Catholic Church when we prepare our hearts for the birth of Jesus. Throughout the last weeks of school, students will be learning about the four candles of the Advent wreath and the special themes they represent.
Hope – In the first week of Advent, students reflected on the hope that Christ brings into the world. They discussed how we can share hope with others through prayer, kindness and trusting in God’s promises.
Peace – During the second week, classes will explore what it means to be peacemakers. Students learned that true peace comes from Christ and considered ways they can create peace in their friendships, families and classrooms.
Joy – The third week of Advent, marked by the rose candle, invites us to rejoice. Students will talk about the joy that comes from knowing God’s love and looked at how they can share joy with others through gratitude, generosity and service.
Love – In the final week, students will focus on love—the greatest gift of all. They will explore how God’s love was shown to us through the birth of Jesus and how we are called to show this same love in our daily lives through compassion, inclusion and care for others.
Through prayer, reflection, classroom activities and adding to our Avent banners that will be displayed in the Church, our students have been deepening their understanding of Advent and preparing spiritually for the celebration of Christ’s birth. It is wonderful to see our young people embracing the true meaning of this season with faith and enthusiasm.
