Year 6 Term 1 Summer Sport Inter-School Friday Competition

The Year 6 Moorabbin District Summer Sport Competition began with our annual Gala Day on Friday 7 February . The Gala Day was a highly successful day for all students and staff.

Round 1 of the Year 6 Summer Sport season begins Friday 14 February with:

A reminder that students must have a hat and drink bottle.

Year 6 Kayaking (Paddle Victoria) @ Karkarook Park

The Year 6s will have two sessions of open water kayaking at Karkarook Park on Tuesday 4 March, and the second session on Tuesday 18 March.

Each Year 6 will have a 90 minute session on each day where they will learn some first aid, water safety, and kayaking skills. The sessions are conducted by Paddle Victoria with all fully qualified and highly experienced instructors. A list outlining requirements for the sessions will be sent to parents shortly.

Students will be required to bring snacks, drinks, lunch, hats, sunscreen, towels, appropriate footwear, and some dry clothes to change into on each day.

Ormond Primary School Swim Trials

Thank you to all the students who came to the Ormond swim trials at GESAC on Tuesday. It was a great turn out. It is fantastic to see so many students keen to represent the school at the Moorabbin District Swimming Carnival.

The Ormond team will be posted on Friday 14 February. Unfortunately some students will miss out on selection. I encourage all students to try again next year!

A big ‘thank you' to Sharelle Davis and Cam Strachan for their invaluable help with recording on the afternoon and to Mr Jones for his assistance with the induction and marshalling.

The Moorabbin District Swimming Carnival is being held at GESAC on Wednesday 5 March. Further information for students who are in the team will be sent home very shortly.

Year 5 Lifesaving Victoria Surf Carnival

The Year 5 cohort will be participating in a Lifesaving Victoria Surf Carnival at Sandridge Beach, Port Melbourne on Thursday 20 March. The carnival will run from 10:00am until 1.30pm.

Students will be run through first aid, open water safety, and surf skills using some equipment designed for the surf environment. It is a terrific day where the students learn about open water safety and then compete in a surf carnival.

Year 3-6 Ormond Primary School House Athletics

Wednesday 26 March from 9.30am to 1.30pm @ Duncan McKinnon Athletics Track

Ormond Primary School's annual House Athletics Carnival is being held at Duncan McKinnon Athletics Track on Wednesday 26 March. Results from the day will aid in the selection of the Ormond PS District Athletics Squad.

The Moorabbin District Athletics will be held at Duncan McKinnon Athletics track in Term 3 on Monday 8 September.
