District Athletics

The Rowville District Athletics Championships was held on Friday, 9 August at Ringwood Athletics Track. The day saw 74 of our finest athletes from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 compete against the other schools in our district. Students qualified for their given events off the back of strong performances at our House Athletics Carnival in Term 1 and have been training at school over the last few weeks. Park Ridge finished in 5th place out of 8 schools. 

All members of the team should feel very proud of their efforts on the day and a big congratulations to the following students who finished in the top 2 in their events to progress through to the Knox Division Championships on Wednesday, 18 September:

• Zach P – 1st in High Jump and broke the school record for the Under 10s with a jump of 1.34m
• Liah I – 1st in Triple jump and broke the school record for the Under 12s with a jump of 8.55m and 1st in 100m with a new school record of 14.42s
• Taryn O –2nd in Hurdles with a new school record for the Under 11s with a time of 16.03s
• Meg M – 1st in Shot Put 
• Ashtyn T – 2nd in Shot Put and a new school record in the Under 10s with a throw of 5.83m
• Zahid A – 1st in Shot Put and a new school record in the Under 10s with a throw of 10.52m
• Zane F – 2nd in Shot Put
• Ava C – 1st in 200m with a new school record of 29.64s in the Under 12s and 2nd in 800m
• Abby T – 2nd in 200m
• Jalen D – 2nd in 800m 
• Lincoln S – 2nd in 800m
