Happy Science Week!

This week we had an astrophysicist, Aston Quin, come and talk to our Year 5 students about space and the solar system. The Year 5 students had A LOT of excellent questions to ask him, so many that we ended up running out of time.

Our Year 3s had a cosmetic chemist, Barry Hunt, to come and show us some amazing scientific demonstrations including volcanic eruptions that move realistically slow to magic water involving chemical reactions. The Year 3 students had questions for their scientist too, with Ben Hunt from Year 3 helping to answer the questions and conduct the experiments.

Science Week continued with our budding Year 4 naturalists finding a rare snail in our school yard - a blue glass snail - and bringing it into the Lab to use our Google App to find out what kind it was.

The Lab was also open Wednesday and Thursday until 5:00pm for any parents who wanted to view the Think Tank projects to have a look. The judging will take place Friday morning with the results being announced at assembly next week.

This year’s Think Tank students are Chloe, Zara, Gina, Ellee, Liah, Tiara, Nicola, Liam, Rhys and Ryan C.

Finally, to wrap up Science Week we had a Bake Sale to raise money for Bush Heritage, an Australian charity that helps our native animals and ecosystems. Anyone wishing to make an electronic donation, please follow the link below and feel free to share with your family and friends. Donations will be open until next Friday (23rd of August).
