Let's Innovate
Principal's Reflection
“The best innovations – both socially and economically – come from the pursuit of ideals that are noble and timeless: joy, wisdom, beauty, truth, equality, community, sustainability and, most of all, love. These are the things we live for, and the innovations that really make a difference are the ones that are life- enhancing. And that is why the heart of innovation is a desire to re-enchant the world.” Gary Hamel
Let’s Innovate was our theme for 2024.
In a world driven by rapid change and relentless pursuit of success, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters. But the most transformative innovations—the ones that shape societies and change lives—aren’t born from a desire for fame or fortune. They arise from something deeper, a pursuit of ideals that are noble and timeless: joy, wisdom, beauty, truth, equality, community, sustainability, and, most importantly, love, as quoted by American management consultant, Gary Hamel.
These ideals give our lives meaning and purpose, and they are the driving force behind the innovations that genuinely make a difference. Whether it’s developing new technologies to protect our planet, creating art that inspires and uplifts, or building communities that foster connection and understanding, the heart of innovation is a desire to reimagine the world.
In Christianity, love is not just an emotion but a profound and enduring commitment to the well-being of others. It is at the heart of Christ's teachings and the foundation of a life well-lived. This love is selfless and unconditional seeking to uplift, heal, and restore, and show compassion, mercy, and justice. Just as this love was revolutionary, inspiring acts of kindness and social change, so too can our innovations, when grounded in love, become forces for good in the world. When we think about innovation, we often focus on creativity, technology, or progress but this is enhanced when love is at the heart of innovation. This has the power to re-enchant the world, bringing about a future that is not just advanced, but also deeply humane and spiritually rich.
Our young people have the power to shape the future. These timeless ideals can be a guide. The most impactful innovations are those that enhance life and bring us closer to a world where everyone can thrive. In doing so, not only do we change the world—but you make it a more beautiful and loving place.
