Religious Education News – Welcome to Term 3

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope all our families had a restful and refreshing break and are ready for the exciting term ahead.

This term is a very special one in our faith life at school. We are proud to share that 26 of our Year 5 and 6 students will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Patrick’s Cathedral on Saturday 9th August at 2pm. This is a significant step in their faith journey, as they receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and commit more deeply to living out their Catholic faith. We warmly invite all members of our school community to come along and celebrate this joyous occasion with us.

Another highlight of our term will be Grandparents and Special Friends Day, held in Week 2 on Friday 1st August. We invite all grandparents and special friends to join us for Mass at St Mary’s Star of the Sea Church at 9:15am, followed by a celebration at school. This is a wonderful opportunity to honour the wisdom, love, and presence of the special people in our students’ lives.

Mini Vinnies – Hope & Gratitude Fundraising Day: Thank You!

Dear Families,

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful school community for your incredible support of our Mini Vinnies Hope & Gratitude Fundraising Day, held on Tuesday 1st July. The event was a joyful celebration of generosity, compassion, and community spirit — and it could not have happened without you!

Led by our inspiring Year 5 and 6 Mini Vinnies teams, this special day marked the culmination of their Term 2 inquiry, Hope & Gratitude: Caring for Those in Need. Students explored the important work of local and global charities and took real action to support those doing it tough in our community.

We were blown away by the enthusiasm and creativity of our student-led stalls, which included everything from bracelet making and gift bag decorating to cupcake decorating, kids bingo, pancakes, and handball games — all for a great cause. Thanks to your generous contributions, whether through gold coin donations, winter coats, or soft toy donations, the day was a true success.

The charities we’ve supported through this initiative include:

  • Caritas Australia
  • St Vincent de Paul (Vinnies Kitchen)
  • Salvation Army
  • Victorian Homeless Fund
  • Melbourne City Mission
  • Southern Peninsula Community Support Service
  • Save the Children
  • Starlight Children’s Foundation
  • MSFIN (Mums Supporting Families in Need)
  • Royal Children’s Hospital

Thank you for partnering with us to nurture a culture of faith, justice, and service in our school. Together, we have made a meaningful difference — and we couldn’t be prouder of our senior students for the passion, effort, and leadership they’ve shown.

Warm regards,

Jacqui Hayes
