Australian Mathematics Competition
In week 4 we had 135 learners from Years 3 to 6 participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC). We are incredibly proud of these learners for choosing to challenge themselves and take part in this prestigious competition.
Many learners are eager to know how they performed and are looking forward to receiving their certificates. Results will not be available until next semester, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements when certificates are presented at Assembly. Parents will be notified via Compass once results and award details are confirmed.
With 135 competitors participating, Credit, Distinction and High Distinction certificates will be presented at Assembly. We congratulate all learners on their enthusiasm, perseverance and commitment to mathematics, and we look forward to recognising their achievements.
ICAS Mathematics
In Week 7, we wish our learners who have been selected to participate in ICAS Mathematics all the very best. This is an excellent opportunity for learners to challenge themselves and demonstrate their mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Learners will sit the ICAS Mathematics assessment on Thursday, 27 August.
Foundation
What a busy few weeks we have had in Foundation! We recently celebrated 100 Days of Learning, and what a fun day it was! Our learners dressed up as 100-year-olds or wore outfits featuring 100 items.
We spent the morning celebrating our learning with the special people in our lives. After walking the catwalk, we shared some of the wonderful things we have been learning before taking part in a range of fun activities all about 100. We then enjoyed a delicious morning tea with our friends and families. It was such a fun and successful day, and we are so proud of all that our learners have achieved in their first 100 days of Foundation! We can’t wait to see what we will learn in the next 100 days!
Another exciting event coming up in Foundation is our excursion to Kyabram Fauna Park, where we will put our Animal Detectives learning into practice. We are looking forward to seeing the animals, making connections to our classroom learning and having lots of fun along the way.

Year 4
Our Year 4 learners are enjoying the classic Australian novel Storm Boy and exploring the unique environment of The Coorong, where the Murray River meets the sea. As part of our learning, we have been examining maps and tracing the journey of the Murray River all the way to Goolwa. Through this study, students are developing their understanding of the region's geography, wildlife, and cultural significance. They are now busy researching and composing informative reports about The Coorong.
Sport Update
If your child is in Years 3-6, they will participate in the Interschool Athletics next week (11/12 Year Old on Tuesday and 9/10 Year Old on Wednesday). At this event, learners are split into groups to compete throughout the day. We will use data gathered from previous carnivals and observations from 2026 PE lessons to determine the groupings.
Regardless of the group your child is placed in, they are eligible to qualify for the next stage of athletics if they finish in the top two of their age group and event, not necessarily their position within their group. For example, a child may finish second in Group A however a competitor from Group C ran a faster time or threw a further distance, the child in Group C would progress.
On Monday evening, learners can participate in the 200m and 1500m running event to qualify for the next stage. This is an optional event if your child wishes to participate and is being held at Jack Eddy Oval from 4pm. Please arrive early so that your child does not miss their event.
