2027 SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN

Do something you love this Summer; join over 800 young musicians for an inspirational week of musical discoveries, engaging workshops and performances in the heart of Melbourne.

Summer School is about a whole lot more than developing your technique and expanding your repertoire knowledge. It’s about opening minds to a whole new sphere of musical discovery. It’s about sharing phenomenal musical experiences.

Taking place at the University of Melbourne in the cultural hub of the city, there are daily rehearsals in symphony orchestras, string orchestras, symphonic bands and jazz orchestras catering for all levels and interest. The week will conclude with celebratory concerts for families and friends to attend.

2026 International Chemistry & Art Competition News

It’s time to start preparing for this year’s International Chemistry & Art Competition, and we can’t wait to see the creativity unfold! As was the case last year, entry into the competition is FREE! We’re excited to share what’s in store for this year, including the competition theme, our judging panel, new prize categories, and an enhanced People’s Choice Award.  

Whether you're joining us through your school, your art or STEM club, as part of Science Week, or just home, we're excited for everyone to be involved. The International Chemistry & Art Competition is a fantastic opportunity for all young people to get involved in science communication outside the classroom! 

This year’s theme is:

🌏 “Chemistry Powering Our Planet” 🌏

This theme invites students to explore how chemistry shapes our world–from sustainability, clean energy, and environmental protection, to medicine, innovation, materials, influential chemists, and future technologies. We can’t wait to see how young people interpret this theme through their artwork. 

✨ What’s new for 2026?

Following feedback from schools and families, we’re excited to introduce the new group category. In addition to submitting one individual artwork, students can now also contribute to one group artwork. The winning group entry will receive a $500 prize, awarded to their school to source resources and support opportunities that benefit participating students.

We’re also launching an improved online submission portal, designed to make entering easier than ever. The portal will allow you to:

• save submissions and return to complete them later
• manage multiple entries under one account (particularly helpful for teachers who are submitting multiple entries for students)
• upload submissions and enter information in a more streamlined manner
• more clearly track competition outcomes

Our People’s Choice Award is now integrated into our new submission portal, making it easier than ever for parents, family, friends, and the wider community to support your artwork(s). Each person can vote once per artwork (and for multiple artworks overall). All votes securely verified through a two-step verification process. All artworks will still be displayed in our virtual art gallery at www.raci.org.au/icaac

🗓 Entries will open on 1 August and close at 5:00 pm (Melbourne time) on 1 October. Please note the time zone when you are planning your submission.

Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances. All submissions must be made through the online portal (email entries will not be accepted).

Whether you’re a returning participant or joining us for the first time, we hope you, your students, and even your school-aged family members will take part again this year. If last year was anything to go by, 2026 is set to be our most inspiring competition yet.

We look forward to seeing the creativity, imagination, and chemistry come to life.
