South Australian Band and Orchestra Festival
On Friday, 14 August, the Big Band travelled to Westminster College to compete among many secondary school bands across the state in the Intermediate Division for the SA School Band and Orchestra Festival.
We performed the competition test piece, Hardly Groovin’ by Jackson Mack, as well as two pieces from our Cabaret performance earlier this year, Gonna Fly Now from Rocky and Soul Bossa Nova from Austin Powers. The band performed very well, placing in the silver category, putting them amongst the top schools in the Intermediate division.
Lutheran Schools Choral Festival
On Saturday, 22 August, the Senior Vocal Ensemble participated in a new initiative called the Lutheran Schools Choral Festival at Concordia College. The festival featured a few other choirs from schools such as Concordia, Cornerstone and Encounter College.
We rehearsed as one large choir combined with the other schools and also took part in a workshop of our own pieces where we performed to other choirs and received feedback.
The day of rehearsals culminated in a performance to families and friends.
This festival allowed us to take our singing skills to the next level, and we had a great time connecting with passionate musicians from other schools.

Year 12 Music Leaders
P.A.R.T.Y Program
Twenty-five students in Year 11 had the opportunity to be a part of the P.A.R.T.Y Program held at the Royal Adelaide Hospital early in Term 3. The Prevent Alcohol and Risk related Trauma in Youth program explores the high rates of road accidents for youth aged between 16-25 and the reasons why these accidents may occur.
Students were given insights into possible trauma and accident scenarios and how they are treated within the Royal Adelaide’s Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department, with students participating in realistic scenarios. Students also were presented to by Ambulance officers, speech pathologists, physiotherapists and a trauma survivor to create awareness about possible rehab recovery and how to prevent these scenarios.
Students shared about their experiences in their Year 11 Health and Wellbeing classes.
‘When people asked me about the day, there was so much to learn and experience, and it was honestly so fun and interesting. It was a very informative and engaging presentation.’
‘After the presentation I will be definitely cautious when driving and drive safely all the time because I don’t want to end up like those unfortunate accident situations.’
‘The presentation and opportunity to be in the ICU and ED was eye opening and has definitely made me think about how to be safer with less risk taking.’

Endeavour Makes Its Mark at the SA Volleyball Schools Cup
Endeavour made a strong impression at this year’s South Australian Volleyball Schools Cup, sending four teams to compete in the three-day tournament against some of the best volleyball schools in South Australia.
Our Year 9 Boys got off to a flying start, winning their first three matches to finish on top of their pool. Their campaign came to an agonising end in a thrilling 2–1 semi-final loss to Hallett Cove. With illness affecting the team heading into their final match, the boys battled hard to finish a very respectable fourth overall from eight teams.
The Year 10 boys continued their impressive form from last year, winning every pool match to secure top spot. They carried this momentum into the semi-final with a convincing 2–0 victory, setting up a repeat of last year’s gold medal clash against Pulteney. The boys produced another strong performance, but unfortunately the result was the same as last year, with Endeavour claiming a well-deserved silver medal.
The Open Boys showed plenty of determination throughout the tournament, competing strongly in every match. Although several games slipped away by the narrowest of margins at 2–1, the team maintained a fantastic attitude and demonstrated excellent camaraderie. They finished their campaign in style with a convincing 3–0 victory over Heathfield.
Our girls' team was our standout performer of the tournament. Featuring students from Years 8, 10 and 11, the team stepped up to compete in the Year 11 Girls division. They were outstanding throughout the pool stage, winning all six matches without a loss and earning a direct passage into the gold medal match.
The final was a thrilling battle of momentum. After dropping the first set, the girls fought back brilliantly to win the second and force a deciding third set. Despite going down by the narrowest of margins in the third set, the team showed tremendous resilience, composure and sportsmanship to finish the tournament with a silver medal.
Across all four teams, Endeavour finished as the ninth best volleyball school in South Australia based on the combined results, an outstanding achievement for our students and a reflection of the continued growth of volleyball at Endeavour.
All players should be congratulated on their commitment, dedication and willingness to put in the hard work over many months of training. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented Endeavour, both on and off the court.
A huge thank you also goes to our dedicated staff and coaches for their time, encouragement and ongoing commitment to developing volleyball at Endeavour.

SACSA Netball
Last week, Endeavour entered four teams across Years 7 to 10 in the SACSA Netball Competition. All four teams represented Endeavour with great effort and determination throughout the day.
The Year 7/8 girls played some solid netball across their first two games. Despite their efforts, they were unable to secure a win, placing them in the 7th–9th playoff pool.
The girls finished the day strongly, securing a win in their final two games to finish 8th overall.
The Year 7/8 boys had a successful start, securing a win in one of their opening two games and progressing to the championship pool. Although they were unable to secure a win in the next stage, they fought hard, narrowly losing by just three points to finish 6th overall.
The Year 9/10 boys faced a very competitive draw, with all five of their opening games resulting in narrow losses of fewer than five points. Despite these setbacks, the boys continued to show resilience and determination. They entered their final game determined to finish the day on a high and had a well-deserved win, finishing seventh overall.
The Year 9/10 girls enjoyed a strong competition, winning two of their opening six games while also experiencing several very close results. The competition was extremely tight, and the girls narrowly missed out on a place in the bronze medal game on percentage. They finished the day with a fantastic one-point victory to end in fifth place overall.
We are incredibly proud of all our netballers and the commitment, teamwork and perseverance they demonstrated throughout the term and on competition day. A special thank you also goes to the staff and student coaches who generously gave their time each week to prepare, encourage and support our teams.

Year 9 RefuMe Walk and Fundraiser Builds Empathy
Throughout Term 3, our Year 9 Voyage classes have been exploring the powerful themes of empathy, resilience and the experiences of refugees around the world.
In Week 6, students had the opportunity to put their learning into action with a challenging 6km walk around Mawson Lakes. Carrying buckets along the journey, students collected drinking water from an Endeavour-made 'Well', gaining a small insight into the daily reality faced by millions of people who must walk significant distances to access clean water for drinking, cooking and washing.
To further develop their understanding, each student was provided with a simple piece of flatbread for lunch. This activity encouraged students to consider the limited food choices that may be available to people living as refugees and displaced communities.
While the experience could only provide a glimpse into the challenges faced by refugees, it encouraged students to step outside their own experiences, ask important questions and see the world from another person’s perspective.
Each class has also participated in a RefuMe fundraiser that aims to promote awareness and monetary support for refugees through donations to Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS).
We thank all families who have already generously contributed to this fundraiser, and we will continue these fundraising efforts until the end of Term 3.
