From the Principal

Dear families,
This coming weekend we celebrate Father's Day. I would like to acknowledge the important role that Fathers and all other special males play in the lives of the children at our school. I hope all of the dads have a chance to relax over the weekend and spend quality time with their families.
Today we have a large team representing our school at the District Athletics Carnival. Well done to all of these students, we hope they have an awesome day. We also know they will show great sportsmanship and effort in their events. Go STM!!!
Hats at STM!!:
Just a note for families that hats are compulsory from the start of Term 4 at recess and lunch times. I highly encourage students to start bringing their hats to school now as the sun has started to poke its head through on a semi-regular basis. This week we did have a few students with red cheeks after playing at recess and lunch.
Father's Day Stall:
Just a note that our amazing Parents and Friends Committee are running the annual Father's Day Stall on Friday, 4th of September. They may be looking for some additional help between 11:00am and 1:00pm on the day. If you are able to help, please let Tarnia or Jacqui in the office know. Prices generally range from $2 - $6 or $7 and students would not be required to bring anymore than $10. As always, if you are struggling financially and this is something you cannot afford, please let Declan, Danielle or Emily Atkinson know and we will make arrangements to make sure children do not miss out.
Bunnings BBQ:
I would also like to pass my thanks once again on to our Parents and Friends Committee who have organised the Bunnings BBQ which is running on Saturday at Scoresby. As mentioned on Tuesday in our NForma notice, we still require a few hands to help at certain points of the day. Please let Tarnia know in the office if you are able to help (office@smbelgrave.catholic.edu.au).
Melbourne Museum Excursion:
On Monday, our Year 3/4/5 students are heading to the Melbourne Museum for an excursion. It is important to note that for our students to make their scheduled appoinment time in the City they need to depart from school at 8:30am. This means students need to be in the quadrangle outside the Artroom by 8:20am.
One for the Dads:
Footy Colours Day:
On Friday 18th of September (Last day of Term 3) we will be holding our Footy Dress up day. Students are invited to dress up in the colours of their favourite footy team.
Book Week 2026:
Last week, we had a wonderful time celebrating Book Week. A highlight was Friday’s parade, where we saw many amazing and creative costumes inspired by favourite books and characters. We were also thrilled to raise $475 through our Book Fair. Thank you to our families for their generous support and to everyone who helped make Book Week such a memorable celebration of reading.
MACSSIS Survey:
Next week a number of families will receive an email with a link and code to complete the MACSSIS Survey. It would be great if those families could take some time to complete the survey. The data is used by schools and our system. It should take no longer than 20 minutes to complete.
