Red Class

Miss Graham

We are already halfway through Term 3, and it has been such a joy to see K/1’s enthusiasm for learning continue to grow.

Literacy

It has been great to see K/1 growing in confidence with their reading and writing skills. They are learning to use more sounds to build words and are becoming increasingly aware of using punctuation—such as full stops, capital letters, and question marks—when writing.

Numeracy

In Mathematics, students have been working hard on recognising numbers and counting groups of objects. We are practising one-to-one counting, which means pointing to or touching each object as we say the numbers so that the last number tells us “how many” altogether. Students have also been exploring how numbers are made up, for example, recognising that 18 is 10 and 8 more. K/1 have also revisited 2D shapes and enjoyed comparing and measuring lengths through hands-on activities. It has been wonderful to see their excitement as they discover and talk about their mathematical thinking.

Creative Arts

Our Creative Arts lessons have been filled with colour and creativity! We have been exploring the colours of the rainbow and experimenting with different marks and techniques in our artworks. After reading the story Rainbow Bear, students created vibrant bears using dot markers. It was a joy to see how proud they were of their finished artworks and how thoughtfully they spoke about their creative choices and those of their classmates.
