Goodbye Year 12s!

Wishing all the Year 12s that are leaving us in the next few days a great future (hopefully in the agricultural industry). Enjoy your freedom from school and be your best in your new adventures. Give 100%. Enjoy what you are doing. Continue to learn. Allow others to teach you. Try new things. Soak up information and skills. Meet up with mates. Spend time with family. Pay your own bills. Make your own meals. Do your own washing. Make your own appointments. Hey, wait ... school doesn't sound so bad now does it?!

But to be serious - I'm sure you will all succeed at your future dreams and goals. Good luck!

Year 11s are still keeping things running

While the Year 12s prepare to spread their wings and head for the hills, the Year 11s are continuing to keep the farm running along with our dedicated (yet tired) Technical Officers. Hay cutting has started, and baling will happen shortly - especially if this warm weather persists.

Fly treatment for cattle

The flies at the moment are horrendous and turning our lovely, quiet cows into grumpy old maids. Mrs Moore and her Year 11 group brought the girls in this week and dosed them with fly treatment to try and give them some relief.

Au revoir ovines (Goodbye Sheep)

Last week, 187 of our ewe hoggets left for NSW destined for breeding instead of heading to the abattoir. These ewes were carefully culled as unsuitable for our breeding program but were bought by a farmer in NSW looking to restock after drought conditions forced him to destock last year.

General Farm

The old spray truck had a birthday before heading off to Wylie for a bit of extra TLC. This truck is used to tow our Norrish field bin around during harvest, so she's getting a bit of work done to ensure everyone is comfortable and safe during this upcoming busy period on the farm. Thanks to Mr West and his group for their work getting her cleaned up!

Royal Show

Good luck to our teams competing in the Royal Show coming up in the next 2 weeks. The Farm Skills team is heading down on Thursday to compete in numerous events, while next week brings the Pigs in Schools competition, shearing, wool handling and judging competitions.

We wish all the competing students the best of luck! Thanks also to the staff facilitating these events and spending time at the show with our animals and students.

School Holidays

Enjoy the upcoming school holidays and remember to return with a refreshed body and mind for the final run to the end of the year. Remember, being Term 4, that hats are a requirement when rostered on Farm. Uniform infringements will be issued to those that don't wear their hats. Also, remember that with the weather warming up, you will need sunscreen and water bottles too.

A big thank you

I would like to sincerely thank all the Farm staff that keep the Farm running and students safe and occupied every day. There would be no Cundy Ag without you all putting in the effort throughout the year. Term 3 has been busy with signing off Year 12s, training for the Royal Show, shearing competitions, helping York DHS with pig preparations, getting machinery ready for hay season and harvest, and all the everyday tasks that come along with a mixed enterprise property.
