What's happening at our school?

For our Coding (Sphero) sessions over the last couple of weeks, students have been creating a maze to code their way through. The engagement and enjoyment through these sessions has been fun. Despite some challenges coding, we're being resilient to manage as best we can

Discovery and Planetarium Bendigo

We went to the Discovery Centre by train. We went on a 7 metre drop slide. Most people were scared, but some people faced their fears and went on the slide.  It was scary at the top but when you go down it was fun. We went to the planetatium and sat on bean bags or a couch and looked up at a giant screen and saw plaets and we pretend we were in a rocket ship. There was a mirror maze that was hard to escape, I crashed into a mirror because it was reflecting the doorway! There was a robot dinosaur named Roary and when  you say Hi Roary, it says hello back. It was very fun!

2-3-4 Matilda

The class enjoyed celebrating their positive behaviour with a class pyjama and Matilda movie party.

Horrified by the appalling teacher behaviour at Crunch-em Hall, the class have been doing some persuasive writing on corporal punishment. Here's a few samples...

Introduction

How would you like to be whacked with a cane? In the past, corporal punshiment meant you got hit on the bottom, knuckles, hand and legs it would of hurt. I wholeheartedly believe old school punishments should be GONE from this WORLD - Scarlett

Body paragraph

Firstly, old school punishment should be banned because it teaches kids to be naughty. To begin with, if teachers hit kids, the kids will think hitting is okay and might hit kids when they are older. Haven't you read Matilda? In Matilda, there is a horrible headmistress who treats the kids badly but there is a few kids called Hortensia, Matilda and Lavender who get the Trunchbull back after corporal punishment. So basically, if you treat kids badly they will treat you badly. - Billie

Conclusion

In conclusion, we shouldn't ever use corporal punishment in the world. It teaches kids to be naughty, kids get hurt, and stops kids from learning. Stop the cycle of violence!!!!!!!!!! Kids need to break free. - Clara
