Chemical Creations!
As you know we always love the opportunity to make our learning come alive! Incursions are a wonderful way to celebrate the learning concepts being covered in class, and hopefully offer students something hands on or a little bit different to their normal class activities.
At the moment our term focus in Integrated is Chemical Science! This involves lots of great learning about how chemicals react to each other, the different states of matter, and much more! Each of our classes unpacks this concept slightly differently, with different learning outcomes.
This week we were so lucky to welcome Supercharged Science to St Anthony's to work with our students, and reports back were very positive. Just have a look at some of the photos to see how engaging and enjoyable our kiddos found the experience!
Our junior students loved this foam, fizz and bubble filled session!
Students explored how substances can change through processes such as dissolving. Students experimented with different colours in chemicals to lots of oohs and aahs. Students even explored a special group of chemicals called Polymers, meaning they got to take a little bit of their experiment home with them!
Students in these sessions reflected on the three main states of matter, as well as how these states of matter can change when something affects an object. Students loved seeing Dry Ice in action, and how it affected different chemical compositions.
Like any great set of science experiments too, the session ended with a little bit of fire! We promise this wasn't accidental, it was all part of the plan and went through without a hitch. It also produced perhaps our favourite photo of our students from the entire year!

We hope our students were able to walk away from these sessions with some new concepts learnt, but also feeling energised and engaged to continue to explore Chemical Science with their teachers for the remainder of the term.
Please enjoy some photos from the sessions below!

Take care!
