What picture comes to mind when you think about life and the passing of time? Some see it as a book, filled with stories of adventure.
In closing Worship for the year, we had a brief look at some of the adventures we’ve shared at Good Shepherd in ‘Chapter 2025’. We enjoyed a festive start with the Welcome Party and then embraced a year filled with stories of learning, experiences and opportunities to build and strengthen relationships as a community.
Of course there were changes along the way. It is one of the ways we grow. This year we watched our outdoor play areas change. After a lot of time and effort, the landscape now looks different. The equipment is ready for us to explore, exercise our imagination and enjoy even more fun with friends.
We have a lot to give thanks and be grateful for!
But now we come to the close of this chapter... We can’t flip through the pages of the next one just yet. This time... ‘between the pages’, can bring to the surface a range of emotions... Excitement, eagerness, sadness, even uncertainty...
Here’s what we do know... The next chapter will be a new adventure!
Some of the pages will be coloured with wonder and delight. There will be opportunities to grow in confidence as skills, that right now seem out of reach, are attained. But some pages will be challenging... Some feelings will be hard to have... and process.
But... while the coming pages are yet unwritten, they are already watermarked. Each page has been stamped... The pages past, the page we are on today, and the pages yet to come... They are stamped with love and a promise.
God wants us to know of His love for each one of us. The bible is full of stories of His love... How he sent His son, Jesus... (We celebrate His birth at Christmas.) Stories that illustrate ways Jesus loved and connected with people, culminating with His death and resurrection... God wants us to live each day, in the security of His love.
And we aren’t alone. Jesus has promised to be with us in all of our adventures... in every chapter of our lives... Look at His words in Matthew 28:20b (NIrV)
‘And you can be sure that I am always with you, to the very end.’
As we close this familiar chapter and get ready to embrace a new one... Remember the watermarks...
Take courage and rest... Knowing that today and in the coming chapters... You are loved and not alone...

You are invited to share in the wonder of Christmas as we celebrate the good news... A Saviour is born!
The 5:30pm service is a short, family friendly service where we get to sing Christmas songs and carols and children have the opportunity to participate as we share the message of Christmas. (If your child would like an acting part, please contact Georgie here.)
If you are just wanting to come along on the night, we would love to see you and your family as we celebrate the birth of baby Jesus!
