Principal's Message

Brock Wilson

Dear families,

We’ve reached the middle of the year, and what will be a well-earned break for both our students and staff. I am sure you will all join me in celebrating the achievements and progress shown by our students in what has been a fantastic semester of learning here at Roxburgh Homestead Primary School.

Staffing Updates – Alisha Hyland

It was recently communicated to families that one of our 3/4B teachers, Alisha Hyland, will be leaving our school at the end of this term due to a change in her personal circumstances. I am sure you will join me in thanking Alisha for her contributions to RHPS and wishing her all the very best for the future. Replacing Alisha will be Ramina Yazdi. Ramina has been working at our school this term as a CRT, Art teacher and P.E. teacher, and has previously taught at a number of local schools. Many students will already know Ramina through these roles, which will help support a smooth transition.

From Term 3, your child will continue to be taught by Melissa Sherwood alongside Ramina, ensuring continuity of learning and support throughout the second half of the year.

Staffing Update – Naomi Prawiro

It was also recently communicated that our Foundation B teacher, Naomi Prawiro, will be going on maternity leave from the 31/07. Whilst we are still in a recruiting phase to cover this role, I can confirm to families that Christina Stivala, one of our Learning Specialists, will be working closely with the Foundation team in both a teaching and coaching capacity to ensure continuity of learning through this time. I will announce an additional teacher in this space to the community once the appointment has been made.

School Reports

You would have also received correspondence through Compass regarding your child’s end of semester report this week. Please remember that you can always reach out to your child’s classroom teacher to discuss any queries you have regarding your child’s learning progression. At RHPS, we encourage our staff and families to work together on helping each child become the best version of themselves, so please don’t hesitate to organise a time to discuss your child’s progress if you feel the need to do so.

World Cup Assembly / Sports Uniform Fundraiser

Finally, thank you to all the families who joined us for our World Cup assembly yesterday. We have gone a little wild with soccer fever here at RHPS, with students running soccer tournaments at lunch and recess and everyone has been talking about the Socceroos! The gold coin donations from the out of uniform day raised some funds that will go towards improving our interschool sport uniforms for our children to wear when they represent the school.

That’s all for another term here at Roxburgh Homestead Primary School. I will be changing gears now from ‘Principal mode’ to ‘Dad mode’ as I look forward to spending some quality time with my daughters over the coming weeks. I wish you and your family the very best for the holiday period, and we will see you all again back at RHPS on Monday the 13 of July.

Keep smiling!
