The focus in Maths for Grade 5/6 will be:

Grade 5 will:

• Data investigation

  -Interpret data displayed on tables

  -Interpret column graphs with non-unit scales

  -Create column graphs with non-unit scales

  -Communicate and evaluate finding of an investigation

• Fractions, decimals and percentages

  -Recognise and represent percentages on a hundred grid

  -Represent percentages with bar models

  -Convert between tenths, hundredths and percentages

  -Convert and order fractions, decimals and percentages

• Operations 2

  -Round numbers to the power of 10

  -Determine the effects of rounding up or down with multiplication and division

  -Use materials and diagrams to identify operations

Grade 6 will:

• Data investigation

  -Use digital tools to display column and line graphs

  -Interpret side-by-side column graphs

  -Interpret line graphs

• Fractions, decimals and percentages

  -Calculate percentage discounts - 50%, 25% and 10%

  -Use division and multiplication to calculate unit and non-unit fractions, decimals and percentages

  -Convert between fractions, decimals and percentages to perform calculations

• Operations 2

  -Identify operations for multi-step worded problems

  -Solve problems involving fractions, decimals and percentages

  -Use digital tools for problem solving (calculators)
