Term 1 Week 7                                                                                                            13 March 2026

From the Principal

Hi Everyone,

There was quite a buzz in the air this week with NAPLAN’s arrival.  It was so heart-warming to see how excited the children were to take a test - well done to everyone that this is how they feel! No outward signs of stress, just ready to do their best. Congratulations to all of our kids and teachers!

We are going to have added excitement over the next fortnight, as we have Student Progress meetings. I know teachers give up a lot of their time to do these, but I also know how much they value connecting with you families. Welcome to all of you and enjoy the catch-up with your child’s teacher and hearing how your child is progressing.

A giant inflatable dome sprang up in our hall this week and I watched children disappear inside it!  Alas it was the Year 1 STARLab incursion - how cool! Thank you to all our Year 1 staff, who worked together to organise this great opportunity for our little learners. See the ‘From the Classroom’ section to read all about it.

Still on the theme of the night sky, Year 2 is getting to go to the Planetarium next week!!  They are very, very lucky.  Thank you to our Year 2 team for organising this excursion, this will really enhance this term’s learning.

Congratulations to all our Year 4-6 Merit recipients, we are so proud of you!

We also got to congratulate some of our amazing Library Monitors who received their Library Life Member Badge - how incredible!  This is for all of the time they put in and the skills and knowledge they have developed; they have completed 3 levels of the Library Monitor program I believe. Congratulations again!

And if that wasn’t enough, we congratulated our tennis stars who were the winners of the Ironside tennis tournament.  Well done to these future champs!

Next Friday is our 10–12-year-old boys and girls Cross Country, which is very exciting!  All the best to the 60 or so children who are competing; what an achievement in itself!! Please remember to come to school ready (sunscreen, runners, hat), as all competitors will be walked to where the competition is held.

Please remember to nominate to sit on our School Council! The commitment is one meeting a term and to be part of the school governance process.

Have a safe and wonderful week!

Yours in Education

Angie Kelly

PS. We have had a couple of instances of parents coming into our school and yelling at other people’s children. They are doing this because they believe the child they are yelling at has done something unacceptable to their child. This is not ok. If there is an issue between your child and another child at our school, you must contact us to help resolve it.
