P&F Meeting
The P&F plays an important role in building community by organising social events and supporting the school through fundraising activities. We encourage everyone to become involved in the P&F Association. We have a wonderful committee so we encourage our parent body to come along and support our marvelous P&F this year.
Our next P&F meeting is on Tuesday 5th May at 5:30pm in the Staffroom (Week 3 Term 2).
Library News
Once again, the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) is on for all students from Kinder to Year 6. The Challenge is intended to encourage children to read, read more and read more widely. This year we are celebrating 25 years of the NSW PRC and it is the largest reading challenge in Australia. The Challenge opens Monday 23rd of February 2026 and closes Friday 18th of September 2026.
The PRC is free, the only requirement being students read the prescribed number of books from a specific list in the allocated time. The book list consists of many titles available from St Joseph’s School Library, Tamworth Regional Library and free choice books which you may source from home. At the completion of the challenge, students receive a commemorative certificate signed by the Premier of NSW.
This Friday, 6th of March, Mrs Whitney will be going through all the details with the children in our Library lessons.

It is designed to help support you in the challenges of parenting by delivering credible and current information from wellbeing experts.
Some examples of topics are cybersafety, anxiety, screen time and online gaming, positive parenting, friendship and belonging, sleep, neurodiversity, grief and many more. New topics are published every month and you are also able to access an archive of past topics. Within each, you will find resources such as factsheets, videos, podcast and app suggestions, articles and practical strategies.
You may also like to check out the ‘Special Reports’ section. Here SchoolTV will publish timely information related to recent or ongoing events such as flooding, bushfires, social media regulations, cost of living and many more.
Written content can be translated into more than 60 languages, with video content available in Hindi, Chinese and Arabic.
See the SchoolTV logo above which contains the direct link to our SchoolTV page or particular topics or reports worth exploring as they arise.
Cultural Groups
We are very fortunate to have Cassie from the Opportunity Hub and Richard from the Walaybaa Rangers work with our Stage 3 students on 'Care for Country'. The students have been identifying ways they can care for Country through exploring our school playground and reading stories. We look forward to the next lesson that will teach us about water filtration.
Afternoon Pick Up - Crown Street
A gentle reminder if you pick your child up from school in the afternoons via the back gate, please do not use the Presbytery driveway or grounds to enter this area. This is a private driveway and not a public thoroughfare. Please use the church gates to access our afternoon school pick up area. Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated.
Cutlery
A reminder the school does not supply cutlery. Please remind your child to pack any cutlery requirements they may need to eat their lunch.
