Recess and Lunch Opportunities

We've made some small but positive changes to yard duty arrangements involving Tirkandi and Active Lunch this year. This was an initiative that the (2025) Student Ambassadors were advocating for towards the end of last year.

Semester 1: Tirkandi will be open at lunch times on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday starting from Week 2! Tirkandi will then close during the second semester.

Semester 2:  Active Lunch. We will then run during T3 and T4. Again, operating on three days per week, consistent with how it was structured last year. Rowell and Mellor sharing on Monday, Torrens on Wednesday and Fisher on Friday.

This change has been made to provide an additional lunchtime option for students who may not always wish to engage in physical activities. We feel this is a positive step that supports student voice and wellbeing, while offering choice and balance during lunch. Having the library space open offers students a calm environment where they might want to read, draw, play board or card games, or simply enjoy some quiet time.

This shift ensures leadership opportunities are developmentally appropriate,  giving younger students a voice, while enabling our older students to step into more formal ambassador roles. We are incredibly proud of all students stepping forward to lead in 2026.
