Principal's Report

Dear families,

As we progress through Holy Week and celebrate Easter, we are reminded of the enduring message of hope, renewal and new life at the heart of the Catholic faith tradition.

After a busy and, at times, demanding term, I hope this Easter season provides an opportunity for rest, reflection and time with those most important to you.

Again it is hard to believe that we are one quarter of the way through the academic year. As we close out this term, I would like to flag some staffing changes occurring next term.

Congratulations to Fiona Friberg who will be getting married on Saturday to Stuart Combe. I am sure they will enjoy a wonderful life together. From next term, Fiona will be referred to as Mrs Fiona Combe.

This term we have farewelled Jemma McLean and Catherine Huisman and I thank them for their contribution to our students’ learning. Mr Brendan Bryan will be our Sports and Camps Coordinator from the start of Term 2 and I would like to thank Brock Summerhayes for the work he did in this role in Term 1. Next term we will be joined by new and returning teachers Mrs Maddie Howie and Ms Susie Penny. Isabella Griffiths will join us as a fulltime LSO from Term 2. Ms Kara Gough has extended her leave for another term. I am fortunate to announce that we are fully staffed again for Term 2 as we continue to shine as a destination school for teachers.

This week we had our School Athletics Carnival and I would like to congratulate Clontarf House for a strong win and all of the students for participating with a great spirit and sense of fun.

Today, Thursday 2 April, staff from both St Michael and Johns school and St Brigid’s joined together for a highly successful Collaborative Professional Learning Day where we focused on staff wellbeing and growing positive relationships between the schools. The adage states that one must put on the oxygen mask first before you can safely look after others, and the Wellbeing Plans initiated today will further that cause.

I would like to wish all students, staff, families and carers a safe and restful break and I encourage you to engage with your church and parish over this Holy Week.

Car Pooling

With the current situation around fuel costs, St Brigid's would like to offer families the service of co-ordinating car pools from different locations in Horsham and beyond. If you are interested in joining a car pool  please email info@stbc.vic.edu.au with your name and locality, subject heading "Car Pool".

In Christ Jesus name,

Gerard Raven
