VC16 Illustration and Design
Students in this middle school elective class have been exploring paper cutting and collage in illustration. Here are some of the paper cut art pieces they have made recently.
Junior Sports Day
Our junior athletes brought incredible energy to the courts at this year’s Sports Day. In the volleyball matches, our girls’ team showed adaptability by merging with the boys’ event due to lower numbers. The combined squad proved to be a powerhouse, securing a fantastic match win and showcasing some truly skillful ball exchanges. Beyond the scoreboard, the students stood out for their exceptional sportsmanship, representing our school with grit and a positive attitude throughout the competition.
The success continued over on the tennis courts, where both the boys and girls absolutely rocked the court. Both teams were nearly unstoppable, winning all but one of their matches to earn well-deserved spots in the grand finals. It was a day of brilliant play, culminating in a victory for our girls' team, who officially brought home the flag. Congratulations to all our competitors for such a stellar performance!
Future Makers
Our Year 9s attended Future Makers in the middle of this term and once again thrived during this amazing self-development program designed to help build their confidence in the areas of team work, self-reliance and resilience. They experienced group activities, planned for an adventure, and learned via reflection sessions. The program ran for two weeks and consisted of a residential and a journey component. Students stayed at the Outdoor School and undertook a five-day expedition in the Alpine National Park. A huge thank you goes to all the staff who spent time in the mountains with these students.
It was the best and I learned.....
I liked the waterfall, and the walking was challenging.
I loved the high ropes, and I learned how to deal with camping in the rain and wind.
I loved riding at Falls Creek, and I learned to tie a figure 8 knot.
I liked camping and the heavy packs were challenging.
I loved being with my friends, and I learned to enjoy everyday things that I usually take for granted.
I loved the high ropes and I learned how to work with others.
I found it challenging....but I'm glad...
I found walking in the High Plains challenging, but I'm glad I went on camp.
I found the lack of sleep challenging, but I'm glad we had lots of food.
I found doing the high ropes challenging, but I'm glad I did it because it was my highlight from the whole trip.
I found hiking with a heavy bag challenging, but I grew stronger and had lots of fun.
When it was raining, but I'm glad there was a fire.

Did you know that a Future Maker....
Gets the chance to do fun things like hiking.
Will make a lot of amazing memories.
Had 3 days of non-stop rain while hiking.
Goes through lots of hot chocolate.
Has to carry a very heavy backpack.
Walked at least 5km in a day.
Is given the chance at a beautiful hike over the High Plains, with amazing views and learns new things.
Advice to the next Future Makers...
Enjoy Future Makers.
Try all opportunities.
Give everything a go, have an open mind.
Pack more socks / bring extra socks.
Go to the waterfall.
Try your best and have fun / try everything.
Enjoy the hot chocolate.
