Reflection

Celebrating the Feast Day of St Bede

This Friday our community will celebrate the Feast of St Bede where we have an opportunity to reflect on the life of a man whose deep love of God and thirst for knowledge continues to inspire Catholic communities around the world. Known as Bede the Venerable, he was an English monk, scholar, and teacher who lived over 1,300 years ago. From a young age, Bede dedicated himself to a life of prayer, study, and service to God. He is best remembered for writing one of the most important history books of the early Church in England and for always seeking wisdom through scripture and learning.

St Bede’s life reminds us that faith and learning go hand in hand. He believed that knowledge could help us understand God more deeply, and that we can serve God through the gifts of our minds, hearts, and hands.

At our Catholic school, we connect with St Bede’s story by:

  • Growing in our knowledge of God through Religious Education and scripture
  • Working with curiosity and perseverance in all areas of learning
  • Taking time to pray, reflect, and seek wisdom
  • Living out our faith through kindness, compassion, and service

As we honour St Bede, let us be inspired to grow in faith, ask big questions, and use our learning to make the world a better place.
