MARRUNG UPDATE

Our Year 5 students recently had a fantastic opportunity to work alongside Wurundjeri artist Sam Richards (https://www.muyanstory.com.au/), who visited the school to help guide ideas and designs for the Class of 2027 Grade 6 graduation shirts.

Students worked in two groups, sharing ideas and learning more about Aboriginal culture through hands-on experiences and storytelling.

They were excited to see traditional possum skin belts and possum skin cloaks up close, while also learning about Marngrook and its important place in First Nations history and culture. The sessions sparked plenty of creativity, questions and discussion, with students showing great respect and enthusiasm throughout the day.

We are also looking forward to the Koorie Curriculum Cluster (KCC) Showcase on 21 May, which will begin with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony. Our didgeridoo boys have been practising hard and are proud to be performing as part of the event.

It is shaping up to be a wonderful celebration of culture, learning and community connection, and we are excited to share the experience with our neighbouring schools and families.
