2026 School Theme - Coherence
Dear Westbreen PS Families,
Open Day tomorrow!
In 2026, Victoria celebrates Education Week from Monday 18 May to Friday 22 May. The theme of 2026 Education Weekis Showcase your school, encouraging school communities to celebrate what’s great about their school. Every Victorian school is great in its own unique way, whether it’s the people, the place, the learning opportunities or the school community. We will be embracing the Education Week theme with our Open Day.
We look forward to seeing you all at assembly at 9am. We will then open up our classrooms for you to visit and see our learners in action. Sign in for parents/carers will be available at the classrooms.
School Mobile Phone Policy
At Westbreen Primary School, we understand that students may bring a personal mobile phone to school, particularly if they are travelling independently to and from school.
At Westbreen Primary School:
• Students who choose to bring mobile phones to school must have them switched off and securely stored during school hours (this means from 8:45am-3:15pm)
• When emergencies occur, parents or carers should reach their child by calling the school’s office.
In accordance with the Department’s Mobile Phones – Student Use: Policy | education.vic.gov.au issued by the Minister for Education, personal mobile phones must not be used at Westbreen Primary School during school hours, including lunchtime and recess.

Reminder: School Start and Finish times
A reminder that Westbreen Primary School’s grounds are supervised by school staff from 8:45am until 3:30pm. Outside of these hours, school staff will not be available to supervise students and parents should not allow their children to attend Westbreen Primary School outside of these times. If families require supervision of their children outside of these times, you are encouraged to contact our OSHC provider TheirCare. Once TheirCare bring their students outside during the afternoon program, we ask that families not booked into the program head home. This is to meet supervision requirements of TheirCare. This usually occurs from 4pm onwards.
Reminder: Community Playgroup
Our Community Playgroup has commenced for 2026! Playgroup will run every Tuesday in our school hall from 9:00am to 10:30am. Our playgroup is open to all families in the community — not just those currently attending Westbreen. It’s a great opportunity for children to play in a safe, fun environment while parents and carers connect with others in the area. There is no cost to attend, and no expectation to come every week — just drop in when you can! If you have friends or family who may be interested, please encourage them to get in touch via email at playgroup@westbreenps.vic.edu.au or by calling the school office on 03 9306 9481.
