Students in Grades 3 to 6 are developing important teamwork skills by participating positively in groups and team activities. They are learning to contribute ideas, encourage and support their classmates, and work together in a variety of games. These skills will transfer when participating in or supporting those representing St Francis in the inter school winter sports.
Foundation/Grade 2 students are learning and practising personal and social skills that help them interact respectfully with others. Through games, movement activities, and teamwork tasks, students are developing skills such as sharing equipment, taking turns, encouraging others and listening carefully.
Inter School Cross Country
On Wednesday the 6th of May, we had sixteen students compete in the Shepparton Cross Country event.
The students were fantastic with their efforts and attitude. I have little doubt that any of the students had trouble sleeping that night. They all tried their hearts out.
A massive thank you to all parents for being able to bring their child along on the day, a huge effort and very much appreciated.
There are 3 students that made it through to the divisional level by finishing in the top 25 and they are Tilly Meyland (9/10 girls), Riva Meyland (11yo girls) and Oliver Wright (9/10yo boys). They will run on the 27th of May and we wish them all the best on the day.
Our students finished in the following positions

| Tilly Meyland 18th | Riva Meyland 24th | Emily Nuttall 27th |
| Ava Meyland 53rd | Maddie James 49th | Ella Boyd 55th |

Winter School Sport
Term two means interschool sport on Friday afternoons against other primary schools in the local area. We will be fielding a football or AFL 9’s side and two netball teams – one of grade 6 girls and one of grade 4/5.
There have been a few changes to the roster and we have ended up with a 6 team competition this year. Parents are definitely welcome to come and cheer on their children and the team.
All AFL players will be wearing helmets and are encouraged to wear a mouthguard as tackling and contact are a part of the game.
Starting times for games may vary but will generally start around the 1.30pm mark.
Our draw is as follows
May 15th v Katunga at Nathalia Rec reserve
May 22nd v Strathmerton at Nathalia Rec reserve
June 12th v Cobram PS away (venue to be confirmed)
June 19th v Nathalia PS Nathalia rec reserve
Good luck to everyone and ‘3,2,1 StFrancis!’
