We care currently preparing our Year 6 Confirmation Candidates for their sacrament on Tuesday the 28th of October at St Patrick's Cathedral. During this Jubilee Year, we have been invited to attend the Cathedral with the St Ignatius Parish and our school for this important Sacrament. Archbishop Peter Comensoli will confirm the students and Father Trung SJ and Bishop Thinh DD will be present as well. As the preparations continue, we look forward to a great evening.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is a very special and sacred moment in the faith journey of a young person. In the Catholic tradition, Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation, along with Baptism and Eucharist.
Through Confirmation, the candidates are strengthened by the Holy Spirit to live their faith with courage and commitment. It is a time when they affirm the promises made at their Baptism (often by their parents and godparents) and take greater responsibility for their own relationship with God.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are deepened within them, helping them to make good choices, grow in faith, and be active members of the Church community. It is both a personal and communal celebration. It is a moment when the parish and school community come together in prayer and joy to support our candidates as they take this important step in their faith journey.
