BOOK WEEK PARADE

LEONGATHA HORTICULTRAL SOCIETY FLOWER SHOW - GR 3/4 ENTRIES

The 3/4 classes entered into the recent Flower show with their instects on leaves in clay.

Congratulation to everyone and to Sophie who took away 1st Prize, Harriett 2nd Prize and to Eva who received a Comendation.   The photos do not do these justice, especially the 3D varieties.

DISTRICT ATHLETICS

 We are excited to share the fantastic results from our District Athletics Carnival, which finally went ahead on Tuesday after being postponed several times.

We had 49 students represent our school across a range of track and field events. Every student should be incredibly proud of the effort, determination, sportsmanship and support they showed throughout the day.

A special congratulations to our Age Champions - Madelyn, Finn and Pheobe! This is a wonderful achievement and recognition of their hard work and commitment.

We are also thrilled to announce that we won the Ian Brewster Shield once again! The shield is awarded to the school with the highest overall points total after a handicap is applied to take each school's enrolment numbers into account.

It recognises the school that achieves the strongest overall result relative to its size. To win this shield again is a fantastic achievement and a true reflection of the collective effort of all 49 students.

We would also like to give a very special mention to Matilda, Elliott and Emilia, who stepped up when our team needed them. They filled in for events and relay teams, and without their willingness to help, two of our relay teams would not have had the opportunity to compete. Matilda showed incredible grit when she stepped up to run the 800m without having trained for the event, giving absolutely everything she had for her team.

These moments of grit, resilience and selflessness are what being a great teammate is all about.

Congratulations to every student who represented our school. Whether you achieved a personal best, won an event, supported a teammate or simply gave your very best, you all played an important part in our success.

We are incredibly proud of our District Athletics team and their outstanding effort and team spirit.

Thank you to Mrs T who puts in a lot of work to ensure the team is well prepared.

Our next athletics event is the Division Athletics Carnival, which will be held on Friday 11th September at the Casey Fields Regional Athletics Centre.

FOUNDATION NEWS FROM THE CLASSROOM

This term in Religion, Foundation students have been learning about God and Creation. We have been exploring the Trinity, making connections to the Sign of the Cross, which reminds us of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We also explored the Genesis creation story and learned that creation is a special gift from God. Students have been learning how they can care for God’s creation by looking after our world and showing love and kindness to people, animals and nature.

FATHER'S DAY BREKKIE

Thank you so much to the P & F for another successful Father's Day Breakfast.  We really appreciate that your dedicated crew come in at the crack of dawn to ensure that all our families had a wonderful morning. 

CHRISTMAS BOX APPEAL

Christmas Boxes are back! This year we are collecting items to fill our Christmas boxes once again. These boxes will go to people who are less fortunate overseas.

Donations of new items would be greatly appreciated. 

The boxes are shoebox size, so items donated will need to be small enough to fit.  Dimentions are:  12 x 7 x 4 3/8 inches.

These items will be collected in the last week of term 3 so please dig deep and make a difference this Christmas. Please note.  All items donated need to be new.

Celebrating Fathers Day

For many years now, the role of fathers has changed and evolved. During the industrial revolution, fathers were often considered detached and distant due to working long hours in factories. However, today things have changed dramatically with many dads being celebrated for being sensitive, caring and more hands-on.

Recent studies have shown that children benefit greatly from having fathers who are present and interacting in everyday activities. This has transformed the understanding of how fathers shape children’s lives from the start, challenging conventional ideas of parenthood and gender.

Research also suggests that fathers influence their sons and daughters in different ways, which is especially true during their transition to adolescence. Engaging in regular physical activities can play a key role in influencing children to learn self-control, face challenges, regulate emotions and take manageable risks.

In this Special Report, fathers will learn about the positive impact they can have on their child’s mental health and wellbeing, whilst also ensuring they indulge in a little self-care.
