Principal's message

St Monica's is a child-safe school.

We promote the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all students.

100 Days of Foundation

Last week we celebrated 100 days of school for our 2026 Foundation cohort. We are so proud of all that the children have achieved and how far they have progressed.

Visitors are often amazed by the high level of engagement, confidence and ability evident in our Foundation classrooms. Well done!

Next week, we will join schools across Australia for the National Week of Action, with this year’s theme: Small Acts, Big Impact!

Small actions such as including others, speaking up and showing kindness can make a meaningful difference.

Students may wear a "Pop of Purple" on Friday 21st August.  This could include any purple item of clothing or simply a purple hair tie or purple socks.   Further information in the Student Wellbeing section.

Book Week Parade

Get ready to bring your favourite storybook characters to life! Join us on Friday 28th August at 9:00am on the Basketball Court as we celebrate Book Week with our annual costume parade.

Students are invited to dress up as their favourite book character and join their class for a fun-filled morning celebrating the joy of reading. Parents and carers are warmly welcome to come along and cheer on our little bookworms!

📖 What: Book Week Character Parade

📅 When: Friday 28th August, 9:00am

📍 Where: Basketball Court

A friendly reminder: Book Week is not Halloween — please ensure costumes do not include any weapons and students are able to move freely in their classroom and yard after the Book Week parade.

We can't wait to see everyone's creative costumes — happy reading!

 St Monica's Feast Day

Join us as we celebrate St Monica's Feast Day on Thursday 27th August. Students will travel to St Joseph's Church, Quarry Hill to celebrate this special day together as a school community.

Families are warmly welcome to attend.

Enrolments

We are currently planning for 2027. We have had exceptional interest in enrolments for Foundation 2027 and currently have a wait list for some families.

At this point, we also have limited space within some of our other classrooms so I urge anyone who might know of someone interested in coming across to St Monica's in 2027 to contact our office ASAP, as not to miss out.

Foundation Interviews 2027

Interview times for Foundation 2027 families will be sent out soon - Bookings will occur in the last few weeks of Term 3.  Families are asked to keep an eye out for form and book in.

PSG Meetings

Bookings for PSG Meetings will be communicated to the relevant families.  Meetings will take place in the last few weeks of Term 3.

Orima Surveys

Our school undertakes an annual survey to gather the thoughts and feelings of students, families and staff about how our school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Diocese of Sandhurst.

Surveys are sent randomly to families - we encourage members of our school community to take part and have your voice heard — further details on how to participate will follow soon.

The Power of Sleep

"Sleep is not a luxury for young people. It is a biological necessity. Without adequate sleep, learning, emotional regulation, mental health and healthy development are all significantly compromised."
