House Athletics 2026: What a Day!
After a little weather-related rescheduling, our 2026 Brighton Primary School House Athletics finally hit the track at Mentone Athletics, and what a day it was!
Under gorgeous blue skies and with plenty of sunshine, our Year 4–6 students competed across a full program of track and field events, battling it out for those all-important House points. There was plenty of fierce competition, some outstanding performances and, most importantly, a whole lot of smiles!
The standard was incredibly high, with numerous Brighton Primary School records tumbling throughout the day. Congratulations to all of our record breakers, a fantastic achievement!
A special congratulations also goes to our individual House Champions. With a champion boy and girl recognised in each age group across Lonsdale, Sorrento, Fairhaven and Apollo, this is a fantastic achievement and one that deserves plenty of applause!

I was incredibly proud to see so many students giving their best, encouraging their classmates and displaying wonderful sportsmanship. Whether they were sprinting, jumping, throwing or cheering from the sidelines, the attitude and enthusiasm of our students was exceptional. They should all be incredibly proud of the way they represented their houses and our school.
A huge thank you to all of our wonderful teachers and staff who helped make the day such a success. A special mention must go to Lucy Farmer and Karen Pain, whose athletics expertise, organisation and knowledge were invaluable throughout the day. I would also like to thank Tiele Head, who took on the enormous job of data entry and helped keep the results machine ticking over!
My sincere thanks also go to our fantastic parent volunteers, who gave up their time to help events run smoothly. Your assistance was greatly appreciated. Athletics days simply wouldn't be the same without you!
I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful Sandringham Secondary College students and staff, who were excellent throughout the day. Their assistance, enthusiasm and professionalism were greatly appreciated, and they were fantastic role models for our younger athletes.
Finally, congratulations to all of our students who have been selected for the Seaside District Athletics team! I wish you the very best of luck as you take on the best athletes from across the district at the Seaside District Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 8 September. Go Brighton!
After a fiercely contested day, congratulations to Lonsdale House, who were crowned the 2026 House Athletics Champions!
