Principal Message

Dear Families,
It is hard to believe how quickly this term is flying by, and our classrooms are absolutely buzzing with energy, focus, and purposeful learning. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the parents and carers who continue to support our various school programs, sports events, and daily routines. Your partnership makes our school a vibrant place to grow and learn. Please take a few moments to read through the important updates below regarding upcoming events and administrative reminders.
Science Week: What an incredible week of discovery we have had! Our students fully immersed themselves in Science Week, exploring this year’s theme - "Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All," through a variety of hands-on experiments, interactive classroom displays, and collaborative challenges. A huge thank you to our dedicated science coordinators, Liz and Jessie, and teaching staff for organizing such engaging activities that spark a lifelong love for inquiry and exploration.
Book Week: Get your costumes ready because Book Week is just around the corner! This year’s theme - "Symphony of Stories" - celebrates the magic of storytelling and the deep connections we build through reading. We have a fantastic lineup of literary activities planned, culminating in our highly anticipated Book Week Character Parade (Thursday) and Giant Book Swap (Friday). Let's make this a wonderful celebration of literacy! Unfortunately, Mrs H and I will miss this year’s event as we are at a principal conference. We can’t wait to see the photos though!
Headlice: We would like to remind families to remain vigilant regarding headlice. We have had a small number of reported cases across a couple of year levels recently. To help manage and minimize the spread within our school community, we ask that all parents and carers check their children’s hair thoroughly this evening and over the weekend. If you detect any signs of headlice or nits, please treat the hair immediately using recommended treatments before your child returns to school. Thank you for your swift cooperation in keeping our classrooms comfortable for everyone.
Uniform: As we move through the current season, it is a great time to refocus on our school uniform standards. Wearing the correct school uniform fosters a strong sense of identity, belonging, and pride within our community. We ask for family assistance in ensuring that students arrive at school each day wearing the appropriate attire. Please ensure all uniform items—especially jackets and jumpers—are clearly labelled with your child's full name so they can be easily returned if misplaced.
THANKYOU: We are incredibly lucky to have some wonderful parent helpers who generously give their time to wash, sort and return lost property to its owners.
It is a huge task, especially at this time of year, and we know how much our school and families appreciate their help. There’s nothing better than knowing your child has a clean, warm jumper to put on when they’re heading outside to play on these cold winter days!
If you are looking for any lost items, you can find the lost property basket in the Prep corridor near the ART room. To minimise lost property, please ensure all uniform and belongings are named so they can easily be returned and again, a very big thank you to our amazing parent helpers.
Industrial Action: As per Monday’s email, we are pleased to inform families that the previously announced industrial action has been officially cancelled. Consequently, all classes, scheduled routines, and student supervision proceeded as normal. There should be no further school closures or timetable adjustments required while the in-principle agreement is ratified, ensuring a regular and uninterrupted learning for all students. We appreciate the community support of the teaching profession during the EBA negotiations.
School Council: Our latest School Council meeting was held earlier this week, focusing on future school infrastructure projects, community engagement initiatives, and budget reviews. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our parent and staff representatives for their invaluable time, insights, and governance. The council plays a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of our school, and we look forward to sharing more specific updates regarding projects and events very soon.
Athletics: Congrats to all the athletes who represented us at the District Aths Yesterday. Over 20 students have progressed to the next level in a variety of events! Well done to all involved – I know Mr Horbury is very proud of all your achievements.
Enjoy the rest of the week.
