School Sport – Regional Athletics and Basketball
It has been another busy week for St Mary's sport, with students representing the school at both the Regional Athletics Championships in Ballarat and the Colac Division basketball tournament at Bluewater.
Last Friday, 15 students travelled to Ballarat to compete at the Regional Athletics Championships, with some excellent performances across the day. Isabelle C finished first in discus and third in shot put, while Jack H secured second place in triple jump and Alfie H finished second in high jump. These students have now qualified to compete at state level later this month. Congratulations to all three on their fantastic achievements, and all the best for the next stage!
On Monday, St Mary's had one boy's team and two girl's teams represent the school at the Colac Division basketball tournament at Bluewater. This was a tremendous effort, particularly considering many of our basketballers had spent the weekend competing at a tournament in Hamilton. The boy's team and one of our girl's teams progressed all the way to the grand final. Unfortunately, both teams fell just short, but reaching the grand final is a fantastic achievement and a credit to the students' effort, teamwork and determination throughout the day.
With the year drawing to a close, we have just two events remaining on our sporting calendar: the 5/6 Hot Shots Tennis competition later this month and the 5/6 Cricket competition in November.
Well done to all students who have represented St Mary's throughout the year. Your effort, sportsmanship and commitment have been outstanding!
