Mission Month of October:
October is Mission Month in the Catholic calendar and this coming Sunday is World Mission Sunday (18/10). This year marks 100 years of Catholic Mission (first established by Pope Pius XI) and the theme chosen by Pope Leo XIV is ‘One in Christ; United in Mission’. Pope Leo is calling us to be together in unity to see one another as sisters and brothers, working together to bring the Good News to life in every corner of the world. In a world often marked by division and isolation, mission invites us to build bridges of compassion, solidarity, and hope. Next Friday 23rd of October is our Mission Day celebration at St. Mary’s and is our way to connect in solidarity with our missionary partners all around the globe; from little old Colac Victoria to Malawi, to Zambia, to Timor Leste etc. Our stalls, the highlight of the day, are led by our senior children from Grades 3 - 6 who have been busily learning about and preparing their stalls for this fun and important day. The funds raised then go directly to Catholic Mission and the work that they do all around the world. The Catholic Mission website also has loads of resources, prayers, information etc. about what they do there and the connection to the mission month of October if you are after any further information or resources.
Eucharist and Confirmation:
In September, Henry Featherstone celebrated his First Eucharist and Confirmation; congratulations Henry on becoming a fully fledged member of the Catholic Church. There are still dates for celebrating these sacraments in November, December and January 2027, so if you are wanting more information you can contact the parish office or I can point you in the right direction.
