Our Socktober Mission for Catholic Mission at Holy Family in 2026

Friday, 16 October was our Mission Day, so last Friday:

1.    We wore colourful socks to school;

2.    We donated money to Catholic Mission so that they can help the communities in Malawi;

3.    We had the opportunity to learn about the lives of children and families in Malawi in Africa and discover how we can make a meaningful difference by standing in solidarity with communities working towards a brighter future;

4.    We had a “Knee Ups” Competition between our classmates.

Thank you for your monetary donations to help make a difference.

Together, we raised $623.45 for Catholic Mission. Well done, Holy Family!

October, the month of the Holy Rosary

I invite you to pray the Rosary as a family. Vatican II recognised the family unit as fundamental to the building of society and the Catholic Church. It describes the family as a small, domestic church. As parents, you are the first educators of your children. The family home is a privileged place in which to come to know and love God. Family prayer invites God into homes and hearts. It encourages the bonds of love, peace, trust and joy. Father Patrick Peyton insisted “The family that prays together stays together.”

NB: The next "Take 5" in the church before school with Mrs Gray will be on Thursday 29th October. Our focus will be the Rosary. Come at 8.15 for 5 - 10 minutes of prayer preferably with your child and you can learn how to say the Rosary. This could also be a good time for a refresher! Free rosary beads given out for those who come!

Registrations due now for Family Christmas Pudding Making - "Stir it Up Sunday" will be on again this year due to popular demand on Sunday 22 November after the "Welcome to Kindy 2027" Mass. Stirring starts at 11.30 am in the Mary Mackillop Hall. Cost $50 per family. Money covers the cost of ingredients and a small amount will go to the P & F as a donation.

Family Mass on Sunday 25th October. Thank you to all in Year 1 & 2 who came to our weekend Family Mass especially for the pets blessing within the Mass to mark the 800th Anniversary of St Francis' death. There were so many more people and pets than expected and all the dogs were so reverent!! The chickens and the insect bugs were a special treat and it was wonderful to have so many families there with their other pet family members.
