Notes and reminders

Welcome back to Term 3.

New morning bell time

Starting from next week, there will be teacher on yard duty from 8:30am as the school bell will be ringing at 8:50am for all students to participate in 'a getting ready to learn circle'. Spelling/sounds write will start at 9:05am.  All parents need to ensure that your children are at school prior to 8:50am.

Stadium progress

Over the holidays the painting contractor started on the stadium.  He has been back again this week to put another coat on.  Once that dries he will put a coat around the border and the line painting can then take place.  It is looking fantastic, we're nearly there!

At their next meeting in August, School Council will decide on the naming of the stadium and this will be unveiled at an official opening.

100 days at school

Next Tuesday 29th July we will be celebrating 100 days at school.  Students are asked to come dressed like they are 100 years old.  Special friends, grandparents and family are invited to spend the morning joining in for activities.  Activities from 9:45am onwards. We have decided that it might be nice to have morning tea, so could we please ask all families to provide a small plate of morning tea.  Morning tea will be held at 11:20am.

Student Free Day

Monday 4th August will be a Student Free Day.  Staff will be spending the day preparing information required for our School Review.

Book Week - Dress Up Day

Our Book Week dress up day is fast approaching on Tuesday 19th August.  The National theme for this year is "Book an Adventure".  This is always an exciting event, looking at all the wonderful costumes.  The kinder children will also be joining us in the morning.

Shrek The Musical

Mrs Huf and the students are busy learning their lines and practising.  Please read the  'Performing Arts' page attached to the newsletter for more important information about Sunday rehearsals dates and items wanted.

School Council - July Meeting postponed

An email has been sent out advising that the July SC Meeting will be postponed until 20th August 2025.

Breakfast Club

As advised last Term, Breakfast Club will be held on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Breakfast will be available from 8:30am to 8:45am. Barb has been on the job, serving up toast and cereal. We can also offer baked beans, spaghetti and porridge as a hot option on request.  The senior students will also cook toast on Tuesday and Thursday at recess for those that want it.  We hope that everyone was happy with their food packs that were sent home at the end of last Term.

Glasses for Kids Program

Thank you to the parents who have handed in their consent forms for the Glasses for Kids Program.  Students will be participating in the Program at school on Monday 8th September.

Staffing change

Chloe has advised us that she will be leaving Cavendish PS to pursue work in Hamilton. Today was her last day with us.  Thank you Chloe for all your help and assistance that you have provided to our students and staff.  We will miss you but we we wish you all the best in the future.

We are currently advertising her position.  Kate Thomas will be filling in for Chloe until we complete the hiring process.

Thank You

Our school oval is looking great.  A big thank you to James Young for painting the lines on the oval and Jack Behncke for mowing it over the holiday break.  The students were very excited to have it back in use this week.  Thank you also to the Cavendish Football Netball Club who are donating some of their old post padding for our oval goal posts.

Sporting Schools

We have once again received the funding to participate in Sporting Schools in Term 3. Further information will come once we have organised a sport and session dates.

Damian Callinan - Comedy Show

Tickets are on sale for the Damian Callinan show on Saturday 2nd August. Mrs Bell has been advised that they have chosen the Cavendish show to be filmed prior to the event and during.  Obviously due to this we would love to see as many people attend as possible. Tickets can be purchased through the QR code.  Adults are $50 a ticket but if you get together with a few and buy 4 or more tickets the price is reduced to $27.50.  An email has been sent home to families asking people to fill out a survey in relation to their memories of the hall etc. and also if you want to attend a Meet and Greet on Thursday.

Have a great weekend.
