Welcome Back to Term 3!

We would like to warmly welcome all students, families and staff back for Term 3. It is hard to believe that we are already in the second half of the school year. As we look ahead, we are excited about the opportunities for learning, growth and achievement that this semester will bring. We have high expectations for all our students and look forward to seeing them continue to develop their skills, confidence and independence throughout the remainder of the year.

Welcoming New Staff

We are delighted to welcome several new members to the Naranga team this term. Joining our teaching staff are Mr Tim Farley and Mrs Iroshi Rose, and joining our Education Support team are Ms Caitlin Riddle and Ms Sage Wood. We are pleased to have them as part of our school community and know they will make a valuable contribution to the learning and wellbeing of our students.

Exciting Learning Opportunities

Our students have already begun engaging in a range of exciting programs this term.

Our Pathways students have commenced their work experience placements, providing valuable opportunities to develop workplace skills, confidence and independence in real-world settings.

Our Foundation and Year 1 students are enjoying visits to We Rock the Spectrum every fortnight. These outings provide wonderful opportunities for students to build social skills, confidence, physical coordination and community participation.

Our much-anticipated Senior Electives Program has also begun for Semester 2. Students have a fantastic range of opportunities available, including:

• Travel Training
• Meals on Wheels
• Trade Kitchen
• Digital Media
• Textiles

• Work Experience

   

These programs continue to provide meaningful and engaging learning experiences that support student interests, independence and future pathways.

Staff Wellbeing and Professional Learning

We are currently planning for our Term 3 Student-Free Day/Curriculum Day, which will take place on Wednesday 26 August. The day will have a strong wellbeing focus, providing staff with valuable opportunities to strengthen their knowledge, skills and strategies to support both student wellbeing.

Save the Date: Naranga Concert and Awards Night

One of the highlights of our school calendar is fast approaching. Our Annual Naranga Concert and Awards Night will be held on Thursday 22nd October at the Frankston Arts Centre.

We are excited to announce that this year's theme is "Into the Wild". This theme was selected through a vote conducted by our Student Representative Council (SRC), reflecting our ongoing commitment to student voice and leadership. Rehearsals began this week, and students are already enthusiastically preparing for what promises to be a fantastic showcase of talent, creativity and achievement.

We look forward to another exciting and productive term and thank all families for their continued support of our school community. Together, we can make the second half of the year a time of growth, achievement and success for every student.

THE CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY MELBOURNE

Dear Parent/Caregiver,

Your child has the opportunity to be considered for this year's Children's Christmas Party!

This special event is designed exclusively for children with disabilities and complex needs, providing a fun-filled day where they can simply enjoy being a kid.

The day includes:

• Interactive activities
• A 3-hour live stage show
• Delicious food
• A visit from Santa
• Three Christmas presents

Everything is provided completely free of charge.

If you would like your child to be considered for an invitation, please return this form to the school. We will then register your expression of interest with the Children's Christmas Party organisers. Invitations are limited, and registering your interest does not guarantee a place.

Mobile phones

A timely reminder that the Department of Education requires students who bring mobile phones to school to hand them to their classroom teacher, where they will be securely stored for the day.

Families wishing to access support through State Schools’ Relief are encouraged to contact the school.

MEDICATION 

The information below is from the Department of Education policy advisory line.

Schools must ensure all medication to be administered is:

• accompanied by written advice providing directions for appropriate storage and administration
• in the original container with the original label including the name of the student, information on the dosage and time to be administered
• within its expiry date

• stored according to the product instructions, particularly in relation to temperature.

   

Schools should encourage parents or carers to consider whether they can administer medication outside the school day, such as before and after school and before bed.

Over-the-counter medications (including paracetamol) requires a medical authority form that can be filled out at the office.
