State Education Week – Celebrating Learning, Community, and Teachers

We celebrated State Education Week from October 27 to 31, and what a wonderful week it was!

During the week, we invited grandparents and significant others to join us for assembly. Our students performed a number of fantastic items, and we celebrated our Stars of the Week. Guests then enjoyed visiting classrooms, working alongside students, and finishing the morning with a friendly chat and a cuppa. ☕️

Many of our visitors shared fond memories of their own time at GSPS — including stories about the use of the cane and playing tackle footy in the playground! Grandparents were amazed at how much the school has changed and loved seeing their grandchildren learning and growing in such a positive environment.

Students also joined in the celebrations with a House Obstacle Course event, full of fun, laughter, and teamwork. If you haven’t seen the excitement yet, check out the reel on our Facebook page – it’s guaranteed to make you wish you were still a kid! 

Our Student Council also helped make the week extra special by baking and sharing bickies for every state school student – a sweet way to celebrate everything that makes Queensland state education so special. 

We wrapped up the week by celebrating World Teachers’ Day, taking time to recognise the incredible work our teachers do every day. Great schools are built on great teachers, and we are so fortunate to have such a dedicated and passionate team who go above and beyond for our students.  We must also thank our wonderful P&C for putting on a Staff Appreciation Breaky during State Education Week, the staff thoroughly enjoyed this.

A reminder the P&C Colour Run is being held next week.  Please support this major fundraiser for our school, parents are welcome to come along and join in - it's a GREAT afternoon.
