Ending Well
Our recent PBL lesson focused on the importance of finishing the year positively by continuing to show our school expectations in all areas of learning and play. As we head into the final weeks of the year, we encourage all students to keep giving their best, supporting one another, and ending 2025 on a strong and positive note!
Respect & Giving Your Best
This week’s lesson is all about Respect and Giving Your Best.
When we represent our school — whether it’s walking to and from school, on an excursion, or at swimming — we are showing others what it means to be part of our school community.
That means we:
Follow directions – When a teacher says, “Line up please,” we do it straight away and quietly.🗣️
Speak respectfully – We use polite words like, “Can I help?” or “Excuse me.”
Wear our uniform proudly – Our uniform shows we belong to this great school, so we wear it neatly and correctly.
When we do these things, we show respect for our teachers, our school, and ourselves. And that’s how we give our best – every day, in every place.
Student Wellbeing and Respectful Relationships
At school, we are increasingly hearing that even children as young as Prep are viewing TikTok and other social media platforms on parents’ phones. Many students are expressing worry or confusion about what they see online. These platforms are not designed for young children and can expose them to inappropriate or unsafe content.
Thankfully from 10 December, the Australian Government is introducing world-first social media age restrictions to better protect young Australians online.
We strongly encourage all families to review their child’s access to phones, tablets, and social media. Please take a few minutes to read about the changes and learn how to protect your child online.

Let’s work together to keep our children safe, confident, and focused on being kids — not content consumers.
Student Council
☂️ Our Fabulous Student Council! What a wonderful year it’s been with our Student Council leading the way! They’ve done an amazing job representing our students and making our school an even better place to be.
To finish the year, the Student Council has decided to spend some of their funds on umbrellas for students to chill under– a great idea to help everyone enjoy some shady spots during break times.
Earlier this term, they also helped celebrate State Education Week by baking and sharing bickies that went down an absolute treat! 🍪👏
A huge thank you to our Student Council members for their hard work, creativity, and school spirit throughout the year. 🌟

🏐 Next Up – Ball Games (Week 7)
Our next house competition will be held in Week 7 and features Star Relay, Leader Ball, and Tunnel Ball. Get ready to show your skills, cheer loudly, and support your house.Remember, you have to be in it to win it! 💪
🗑️ Bin It to Win It (Week 9)
In Week 9, we’ll hold our Bin It to Win It competition! Each house will be given a coloured bin, and the house that collects the most rubbish around the school will be crowned the winner. Let’s keep our school looking great while earning points for your house! 🌏💚
Chappy News
Chappy Sonia helped the students create beautiful certificates to gift to Grandparents or significant others after they attend our grandparent's morning. The children always enjoy craft activities with Chappy, and this one was extra special.
Lions Club Christmas Appeal
We’re proud to support the Lions Club Christmas Appeal again this year! 🎄We’re asking families to bring in donations of non-perishable food items or small gifts to help make Christmas a little brighter for local families in need.
All donations can be dropped off at the office or your child’s classroom by Week 8.Let’s come together as a school community to share the spirit of giving this Christmas. 💛🎁
SPORT
School Swimming will commence this week and run through until week 9. This term swimming will be FREE to all students, and the timetable will remain the same as term 1. We look forward to seeing all our students in the pool learning to swim.

On Friday the 31st of October, 7 students from GSPS attended the Darling Downs School Sports Aquathlon trials in Dalby. These students have been training hard under the guidance of Mr Mac in the lead up to the event and by all reports they gave it their all on the day. Rocky, Zoe, Lucy, Zac, Ollie, Hudson and Theo should all be very proud of their efforts.
Congratulation Arlia Cleal
Congratulations to Arlia Cleal for her selection in the South Queensland Darling Downs Under 15 Cricket Team!
Arlia has been selected for a number of cricket teams this year — including the Macintyre Zone, Darling Downs, and now the Darling Downs South Queensland team.
Well done, Arlia — what a fantastic achievement!
Playgroup
Miss Casey Simpson and Mrs Donna Norman are our Playgroup Teachers.
Wednesdays 9am to 10:30am. Follow the Red Flags at the Prep Precinct. Bring your GREAT Mates hat, morning tea and a water bottle (and a parent)!!
What a couple of fun weeks we have had at Playgroup. Halloween was a hit, especially our ewwie goowie witches brew (Jelly and creepy things messy play.) pumpkin playdough and painting the spooky ghosts. Last week we celebrated the great Australian tradition of Melbourne Cup. We made box collage horses and elegant flower crowns. We painted some lucky horseshoes and made yummy fancy hats from marshmallows and cookies.
Next week we are having fun looking at Australian Animals. We might see some Wombat Stew!
Here are a few recent pics of our playgroup adventures....
