Subject Selection 2026
The Subject Selection process for all students in Years 7 – 11 is well underway. This time usually promotes conversation and reflection as many students and families take the time to look to the future and verbalise hopes and aspirations. It is a time of choice; where individuals weigh up what they’ve already achieved, who they see themselves as, what they are interested in and what is possible, amongst other things.
We are privileged at our College to be able to work with families and support students with their decision making. As a larger school that prides itself on its inclusion, we are able to provide a wide range of offerings so that individual need is catered for. This is well supported by a Careers Program that starts at Year 7 and supports students until after they depart the classroom. As a community, we are certainly very fortunate.
There are also a number of events that surround the Subject Selection process across the years, including assemblies, information nights and resources. Our online Subject Selection Hub, which is accessible from both the College Website (via Parent and Student Portals) and through SIMON, contains all of the information and material to assist with selections, whilst the selections themselves are made via the SchoolData app. This is also available to students via SIMON.
We use the selections to construct the College timetable for 2027, making it completely student-driven. That is, in relation to electives and subject that students can choose- we have no pre-conceived notion of what classes run. These decisions are made on the back of what students select. As such, the importance of making the selections for each individual cannot be overstated.
The timelines for Subject Selections for each Year Level are below, as is the link to the Subject Selection Hub. As always, we are here to assist and support in any way we can, so if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Recognising NAPLAN Growth and Achievement
Earlier in the year, our Years 7 and 9 students undertook NAPLAN assessments at both Bentleigh East and Mentone Campuses. These assessments are the National approach to monitoring literacy and numeracy development from Year 3 to 9 and provide an individual, school, state and national snapshot of achievement and growth in these areas. There are five domains; Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation and Numeracy.
Schools were recently given access to individual and school achievement. This has been insightful as it will allow us as a College to identify both strengths and areas of improvement for the future.
As part of the assessment process, the Government recognises students who are assessed to be achieving at a high level (Exceeding) in any of the domains as well as those who have shown significant improvement and improved their achievement standard.
We congratulate all of the students who completed the assessment and acknowledge those who have been awarded a certificate for their achievement. Those recognised with a certificate are identified below.
