R U OK Day? Thursday 10th September

Today is national R U OK Day? Many people underestimate the power of an R U OK Day conversation. Research has shown that having the strategies to ask those we are close to if they are ok leads to a feeling of gratitude and being supported by those who are checked in on.

R U OK Day links with many concepts and skills we teach our children such as kindness, how to have strong relationships, help seeking and being upstanders with the skills of knowing how to help others in  need.

This week the children have spent 10 minutes a day focusing on how to notice if someone close to them might not be ok, how to find a time and place to check in on them, what steps to follow on how to ask them if they are ok and then what to do to help them or how to seek help for them and with them.

Below are some of the resources the children have looked at. Please have a conversation with your child about something they have talked about or learnt this week around R U OK day and how to check in on others.

This is the last newsletter for this term. Thank you for a wonderful term working together. I hope that you get so slow down a little in the school holidays and look forward to Term 4 with everyone.
