Principal's Message
Dear parents, students and families,
Trust you have had a good fortnight. We are now up to our last newsletter of the term which seems to come around very quickly.
In the past fortnight many of our students represented our school at the District Athletics at Ballam Park. They had a fantastic day achieving many results that made them proud. 20 of our students have now earned the chance to represent our school district on October 7th next term. Well done!
Last Tuesday our Year 5 students attended Monterey SC where they joined Year 5 students from neighbouring schools. They had the opportunity to take part in World Traditional Games. It was very much enjoyed by the students and we thank Monterey SC for the opportunity.
Fathers Day has been and gone too. Our students were able to purchase something special from the Fathers Day Stall and I am sure we are all grateful to the parents who organised the stall and will be there to assisted the students with their purchases. Last Friday we held our Fathers Day Celebration and I thank staff for their preparation for this. We were thrilled to be joined at school by many dads and significant others who joined us for the morning.
Last Wednesday we held our 2027 Foundation Information evening. This is the first official step for many of our incoming families now that their enrolment has been accepted and we had many of our families in attendance.
On Monday some of Year 5/6 students were at Aldercourt PS representing the school in cricket and tennis. Both teams had wins and I believe are progressing through to the next level of competition. On Tuesday our Year 5/6 classes visited the Melbourne Aquarium on which the students returned from with big smiles regarding the experience. Yesterday Signora Morina lead our Italian Day. With pizza and gelati for lunch, the opportunity for the students to make and watch their pizzas be cooked in our oven and a variety of fun activities it was truly something special. Of course it doesn't all just happen so thanks to families and staff for the most amazing costumes, the parents who sorted out the pizza deliveries, the team who set up and ran our pizza oven and the staff for their overwhelming positivity about making it a special day for all.
Our classes have continued with our weekly liturgies and I thank staff and students for these faith-filled occasions. We do miss Fr Martin and our weekly masses but I had a message from him this week. He is in Canada with a group of priests and learning more about the origins of his order of priesthood. He is having a wonderful time.

School Attendance and Unexplained Absence
Please contact the school if your child is going to be absent by leaving a message on
9786 4736 and press 1. Please give your child’s name and class with areason for their absence such as: unwell, appointment, holiday or family reasons. Alternatively an email can be sent to office@saseaford.catholic.edu.au with cc to the child’s teacher.
Both of these options are available 24 hours a day.
If you are running late, (after 9:00 am) please attend the office to sign your child into school.
If you are picking up your child early you will need to collect them and sign them out from the office.
As per our policy this will be our morning routine for absences:
Parents will be contacted as soon as practicable on the morning a student is absent via a text message.
If parent does not contact the school after receiving the text message, the school will contact the parent by phone. If the parent is unreachable the emergency contacts will be contacted by the school.
If there is still no response, and the school feels that the child is in danger, the police will be contacted.
Ongoing unexplained absences or lack of cooperation regarding student attendance will result in a formal conference being organized. Unresolved attendance issues will be referred to D.H.H.S.
This is a legal requirement.
