The Little Mermaid Junior - School Production

We are very excited about our upcoming school production on Tuesday, 15th September and Wednesday, 16th September. This promises to be a wonderful event with the props and costumes this event is really gathering momentum.

We encourage all families to attend and please note that due to the size of the theatre 

families can purchase as many tickets as you like, so please invite all family members, family friends, neighbours. As part of the ticket price all families will receive an official program that has photos of all students dressed up in their costumes.

Special visitors to our recent staff meeting

We were thrilled to have two Regional Staff attend our recent staff meeting to congratulate our school on this year’s wonderful NAPLAN results. Jeremy Beard, Executive Director, School Improvement (North Eastern Victorian Region) and Larissa Vesdrevanis, Senior Education Improvement Leader (North Eastern Victorian Region) came to our school to chat with staff and acknowledge the outstanding NAPLAN results our school achieved this year. Jeremy and Larissa asked the staff about the strategies and approaches we have implemented to help us achieve these great results.

Our results are the combination of engaged hard working students, parents that show a genuine interest and support their child’s education and our talented, hard working and passionate staff.

This was a great moment for our staff and our school community.

VPA Conference: Leading with Connection & Purpose

Ben and I attended the Victorian Principal’s Association (VPA) Annual Conference in Geelong last Wednesday 3rd to 5th of September. The theme for this 3-day event was, Leading with Connection & Purpose. These conferences present principals with a fantastic opportunity to learn and share new concepts that will help drive whole school improvement. 

At this year's VPA conference, a diverse group of presenters challenged principals to reflect on the role of connection, trust, and purpose in effective leadership. Across a range of keynote presentations, common themes emerged around fostering collaborative cultures, building psychological safety, communicating with influence, and creating environments where both staff and students can thrive.

Speakers explored the importance of empathy, adaptability, and continuous learning, highlighting how human-centred leadership can strengthen wellbeing, engagement, and organisational performance. Attendees also gained practical insights into developing trust, cultivating discipline and resilience, understanding motivation, and leading through change with confidence.

A recurring message throughout the event was that leadership is not just about achieving outcomes, but about empowering others, nurturing meaningful relationships and creating the conditions for sustainable growth. Principals left with fresh perspectives and practical strategies to strengthen connection and purpose within their school communities.

Father's Day Pizza afternoon - Thursday September 10th

We are looking forward to our Father’s Day Pizza Afternoon that will be held on Thursday, 10th September between 5.00pm - 6.30pm.

Pupil Free Curriculum Day - Friday 4th September

The school will be closed on Friday, 4th September as staff undertake professional learning off site. Our focus will be on Wellbeing, with a particular focus on building relationships to enable collaboration and improve student outcomes.

Building works

During the school holidays we will have some works completed around our school. These works involve establishing a designated all abilities car park and redeveloping the ramp outside the library and the all abilities toilet. As part of this work there will be some asbestos removed. We have been advised that this asbestos removal will occur on Saturday, 20th September. When these works occur the construction company will follow all health and safety guidelines and have designated exclusion areas. We suggest avoid coming onto the school grounds while the asbestos is being removed. 

Parent Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist 

schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement.

The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey opened on Monday 17 August and will close on Friday 18 September 2026.

All families are invited to participate, please see the attached for details on how to access the survey.

To date we have had 26 families complete the survey. This represents 8% of our families. We encourage all families to participate in this survey as we are always looking to improve our school.

The survey is online and only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / carers who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to the school directly for survey guides in your language. Please speak to our office staff if you would like more information.

Book Week Celebrations

Our annual Book Week Character Dress Up Day was held last Friday 28th August. We hear it was a highly successful day with so many students and staff getting into the spirit of the day with their costumes. These days really bring the school community together, as was evident with the fantastic turn out for our ‘parade’ in the gym.

Students were so excited to see what their classmates were dressed up as and they loved engaging in conversations about their character and their favourite books.

Thanks to all the families for your support for this day. The costumes on display were amazing, and we know that you must have put a lot of effort into making them.
