Kindergarten Transition

Kindergarten Transition Program News

This term, we started our 5-week Kindergarten Transition Program. We are happy to welcome our three new students!

They have been learning important things like school routines and how to play safely in the playground and during break times.

Inside the classroom, our students had lots of fun with weekly themed activities. We have had a week of bear activities and another week with sheep as the focus topic. Hmm! I wonder what the next Transition Day theme will be? They enjoyed listening to stories, playing games, and of course, making new friends.

Everyone is doing so well, and we are so excited to welcome them to our School Community. Welcome to Niangala Public School!

Kids Teach Kids lessons

Miss Georgia - When asked what Miss Georgia would need for her lesson, her reply was swift and on point, "Some cones and our legs!" We didn't actually need barrels or horses to learn how to do barrel racing thank goodness. Miss Georgia drew a demonstration on the board as to how one runs the barrel race and the students went outside to put their knowledge and skills to the test. Most students improved their times from their original time. Got to love a PB! Thanks Miss Georgia for providing the students with some fun.

Mr Ashton - This lesson started a bit of a playground craze it was so popular. Mr Ashton taught all the students how to play Dodge Ball. He started by explaining the safety rules, we then learnt about the rules and aim of the game and then the students had lots of fun playing the game. Mr Ashton may have had a little too much fun playing the game himself instead of  'teaching and supervising' the game but it was a great lesson and the playing of Dodge Ball carried on into recess and lunch for the rest of the term!

** Footnote: The students have continued to play Dodge Ball nearly every day since!
