Prayer

A new school year.  Beginning again.

Fresh faces.  A fresh start.

No matter how many times we go through it,

There will always be something special about this time of year.

Butterflies in stomachs.

Anxious anticipation.

Exciting possibilities.

Students apprehensive about challenges ahead.

Everyone eager to learn.

We offer prayers of thanksgiving for every family.

Prayers for guidance for teachers.

God who watches over us, hear our prayers,

Spoken and silent as we begin the new school year.

Amen.

Ash Wednesday

On Wednesday the 22nd of February we will be celebrating Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Lent is a 40-day season  marked by repentance, fasting, reflection, and ultimately celebration. The 40-day period represents Christ’s time of temptation in the wilderness, where he fasted and where Satan tempted him.
