Article 14: Hours of Employment

Are you aware that the length of your working day is protected by our contract?
OGEA members have a 7.25 hour workday for most members and 8 hours for school psychologists and nurses. Article 14.1
With the exception of adjunct duties, you are not required to stay at work or perform work related activities outside of these hours.
Are you aware that there are rules governing staff meetings in your contract?
- Article 14.7 governs elementary staff meetings
- Article 14.8 governs middle school staff meetings
Are you aware that there are rules around substitute teaching by ELTPs, coaches, and TOSAs? Article 14.17 entitles you to additional compensation for this.
Are you aware that there are rules governing how much an RSP teacher can be pulled to substitute teach? Article 14.18 establishes limits and entitles you to compensation for this.

Article 16: Safety

Are you aware that OGEA members are covered by a safety clause in our contract?
“Every effort shall be made to maintain healthful and safe conditions in all classrooms. Teachers shall not be required to work under unsafe conditions or to perform tasks that endanger their health, safety, or well-being.”
It is your responsibility to report unsafe, unsanitary, or hazardous conditions as soon as possible to your supervisor. It is their responsibility to make sure the situation is remedied as soon as possible.
