PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MS MICHELLE HAEUSLER - PRINCIPAL

Welcome back to everyone for Term 2. The Easter and term break provided a time to rest and re-energise. We have also enjoyed beautiful autumn weather. The days are now shortening and becoming cooler, so I encourage parents and guardians to speak with your child/ren about their uniform. Students may now wear items of the uniform that were traditionally only worn in warmer months, however we encourage students to move into the warmer uniform items now that the weather is becoming cooler.

At the start of this term we have welcomed three new families to our school community. In the next few weeks we will welcome over 100 Grade 6 students through our Transition Program.  If you have a child in Grade 6 at St Mary’s Primary School, they will attend our Transition Program on Thursday 11th May, St Joseph’s Primary School Kerang will visit on Wednesday 17th May and St Joseph’s Primary School, Balranald and all of the other local Primary School Grade 6 students will visit on Wednesday 10th May. On these days the students will be provided with an enrolment pack. It is important that we receive your child’s application form for Year 7 2024 by Monday 10th July. Last year we had to implement a waiting list for places, however all students who had applied by the due date were accepted.

On Wednesday 24th May we will open our school for our annual Open Day and Subject Expo. Tours of the school will be available and for current families there will be information sessions at 6:30pm for Year 8 and 9 students moving into Year 9 and 10 in 2024 and at 7:30 pm for 2024 Year 11 and 12 students. The Subject Expo and the Information Sessions provide an opportunity for you and your child to speak with teachers and hear vital subject selection information. This will assist your child to choose appropriate subjects for their future. Please mark this date in your calendar.

The Covid-19 virus continues to affect people  in our community. If you are in need of rapid antigen test (RAT) kits, we have stock in the Front Office. I also encourage you and perhaps the senior students to consider obtaining a Flu Shot.

All the best for the term.
